If anyone comes back and gets you an item - no matter how small you think it is, say “thank you” and remember that they thought of you and may have stretched their budget to include a gift for you.

I think the reason people get such items is luggage allowance. To get as many small items as can go round. Also, people complain of counterfeit toiletries in Naija. I have someone who if I get just pad, Vaseline jelly and deodorant for, she’d be elated coz that’s what she wants.

I think every [young] person should have a very clear idea of who they want to be. The life they want to live. Pick a timeframe. 2 years. 5 years. Who do you want to be at 25? 30? 35? 40? Like with terrifying specificity. What sports do you play? Where do you work? What’s your salary? Where do you live? What’s your week like? Who’s still around you? What’s your networth? What industry do you want to be in? What things do you no longer do? I’ve seen so many people fumble opportunities because they couldn’t realize fast enough that they were at the doorway for the life they wanted, because they couldn’t articulate the life they wanted. Write it down, talk about it. with friends. sometimes even with enemies. be loud, and be intentional. I can’t count how many times I’ve been called to do something because a friend remembered that “oh, you said it’d be cool if you worked with an event/company/creative, so this thing came up and I thought of you”. You don’t have the life you want, because you don’t even know what it is yet.

There’s no coming back from certain things, and I don’t think people really understand that. Some damage doesn’t get undone, and once it changes how you see someone, that’s it. Not everything deserves a second chance, no matter how sorry they are.
