Dude we’ve been in this era of “breaking the rules” for so damn long that it’s even more tired than those original rules could ever be. The state of western art is what it is now because we’re too afraid to have objective standards anymore. “The entire history of human civilization is to break free from the arbitrary chains imposed upon us.” Is also such a narrow view of history that it reeks of ignorance. Do you think Rome was constantly trying to break chains and rules? I swear, these people would literally cut the rope keeping them from falling off a cliff because it “feels restrictive”. This isn’t even factoring in the fact that restrictions encourage creativity more than absolute freedom. This has been proven true time and time again recently.
