Thread of my top 10 favorite games of all time list. These games are not in order because I find the idea of putting any one of these above the others to be absurd.

@QuantumV3 Winter fan here, I do not mind that at all. The key difference with winter is that I can always warm myself up. But cooling myself down is a challenge.

notice how all "winter fans" always use cherry picked images at night with no wet shit and dirt piles to make it look good while summer fans can just use any image

"Studies show that people who own yachts are far more likely to be wealthy than those who do not own yachts. Therefore if you wish to be wealthy, you should purchase a yacht." What is the name for this statistical error? It's so frustrating.

@Megatron_ron Every day I wake up and see them get increasingly pissed off that Iran's missile and drone capabilities are way bigger than they hoped and there's nothing we can do about that because their production and stockpiles are untouchable.

There's an interpretation that the Spacing Guild really is just a slave to capital and in spite of protecting Arrakis to protect their trade, they might still trade with the rebelling houses. The guild accepted bribes from the Fremen to conceal their presence in the deep desert.

I think it is kind of naive for Herbert to think that the houses openly rebelling against the Emperor was a realistic threat. Especially with the Emperor in control of Arrakis, the spacing guild would vastly prefer to side with the Emperor over the rebelling houses.

Tbh I have criticisms for the politics of Dune. Like I believe that the Fremen could seize the throne and leverage their control over spice to bring the houses to heel. I do not believe for a moment that the Fremen could mount ground invasions of other planets.

@CatholicCo200 @philosophymeme0 It is worth noting that I'm talking about something close to the type of unit that Amish live with where the entire community is involved in raising children. Which I suspect is the big reason why they're so successful but I couldn't find any data to back that up.

@sapapple1 Fascist men keep trying to bring it back. They idealize being a family patriarch.

@Smiley_Gate If the nuclear family was an unbelievable disaster why were you just lamenting its death? You’re literally just jumping from point to unrelated point now.

@sapapple1 No, suburbs never worked. We tried mass suburbification and we hated it so much we killed the nuclear family. But people are unwilling to go back to community units because that involves dealing with people.

Pure sophistry. Suburbs worked fine for generations when we were a monoculture, so did living in city and rural areas. You’re arguing that it’s a problem but can you say you know what 5 of your neighbors are doing, do you even know their names? I’m sure you can list that many celebrities or social media influencers that you obsessively follow. Literally none of wha you’ve said is the consequence of suburbification
