Nobody knows what to do with Halo because the venn diagram of what fans want and what the series needs to do to iterate has zero overlap.
If you are just going to disregard fans completely, you might as well just start a new IP.

@Smiley_Gate Partly but I think it's also a case of 343 not knowing what to do with the IP anymore, they don't know if they should do their own thing or try to retread what was already done. It's why they abandoned almost everything after Halo 5 and again with Infinite to remake Halo 1.

I don't think there's a clearer case out there where fans are just chasing a dragon.
No matter what new Halo comes out, it'll never bring back the feeling of you in high school playing Halo with your friends all night.

The fact that Republicans get so weird about their children rejecting their inheritance indicates that the "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" talking point is not what it seems on the surface.

I inherited money from my deceased grandparents and I opted to donate it to charity. My parents actually got PISSED at me for doing this.

The only reason Halo had aim steering for warthogs and scorpions is for improved congruity between on foot controls, vehicle controls and hovering vehicle controls. It is pure accessibility.
