Went to register a SIM today, and what happened honestly got me thinking. After the first process, he captured my face, and I assumed everything was done. Next thing, he said the registration didn’t go through because the network was bad. Since I wasn’t paying too much attention at first, we started the process all over again. This time, I noticed he picked up another SIM entirely, not the one we had registered earlier. That was when it hit me… he had registered two different SIMs. This is exactly how people get implicated in things they know nothing about. I made sure I collected both SIMs, even though he kept denying it. I’m very sure of what I saw. In the next 24 hours, I’ll find out if both were activated. Please, whenever you’re registering a SIM, pay close attention. Don’t assume anything. Watch every step.

The court of appeal in Abuja has dismissed the appeal filed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) against the judgement barring it from imposing fines on broadcast stations. Oyejoju Oyewumi, who led the three-member panel, on Thursday ruled that the NBC’s appeal lacked merit. Other justices on the panel are Abba Bello Mohammed and Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo. In a unanimous verdict, Oyewumi held that the NBC cannot challenge the judgement at the court of appeal, having failed to contest the suit at the federal high court. On March 1, 2019, NBC sanctioned 45 broadcast stations over alleged ethical infractions during the general election. Is’haq Kawu, then director-general of the commission, said the affected media houses were fined N500,000 each for flouting the provisions of the Nigerian broadcasting code. Displeased with the fines, the Media Rights Agenda (MRA) sued NBC, citing that NBC’s action violated the right to a fair hearing under section 36 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Article 7 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act. The MRA asked the court to declare the fines unconstitutional and null. In May 2023, the federal high court in Abuja ruled that NBC did not have judicial powers to impose penalties on broadcast stations. James Omotosho, the presiding judge, set aside fines imposed by NBC on 45 broadcast stations. Omotosho said the commission acted as the complainant, court, and judge in handling the alleged infractions.

NBC outlines five policy steps to drive broadcasting-led growth across Africa The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has unveiled a five-point policy framework aimed at transforming broadcasting into a key economic driver for Nigeria and Africa. Speaking at the Leaders Without Borders Development Centre Investors Business Roundtable Summit in London, Charles Ebuebu, the NBC director-general, urged African countries to rethink digital broadcasting as a strategic asset for trade and cross-border investment, rather than merely a regulatory requirement. thecable.ng/nbc-outlines-f…

TODAY, @pressfreedom, @CJIDAfrica, @ForumTaef, @MRA_Nigeria, @IPCng, and @IPINigeria wrote to Nigerian President @officialABAT to express alarm over Vice President @KashimSM's suggestion that no journalists have been harassed under the current administration. "This mischaracterization conveys a grave indifference to the numerous and well-documented attacks on the press while you have been president, including violent abuses and arrests by Nigerian security forces. We call for you to hold accountable those responsible for abuses against the media that have taken place during and before your tenure, and to take further action to reform Nigerian laws to ensure journalism is not criminalized. General elections are scheduled for early 2027 and your action to protect the press and Nigerian democracy is essential." Read the full letter: cpj.org/2026/04/577475/

To properly understand this, let me break it down: the Netherlands has a population of about 18 million people. Nigeria has 220 million people. The Netherlands' GDP is 1.3 trillion dollars. Nigeria's GDP is less than 300 billion dollars. The budget of the Netherlands for 2025 is 457 billion dollars. Nigeria's 2025 budget is less than 50 billion dollars. However, somehow, Nigerian politicians live more lavishly than those of the Netherlands. There is certainly something wrong with us.

The Dutch prime minister left govt office on bicycle after handing over power following 14years in office. Watching this video I shook my head. This is a working country, Unlike that jungle where the unelected wife of the president rides a 50car convoy.
