PRESS RELEASE EDO STATE POLICE COMMAND TO PARTICIPATE IN 2026 NATIONAL POLICE DAY CELEBRATIONS The Edo State Police Command is set to actively participate in the 2026 National Police Day celebrations as the command will key into the nationwide week-long activities scheduled to commence on Monday, 30th March, 2026, and culminate in the grand finale on Tuesday, 7th April, 2026, in Abuja. This year’s theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” speaks directly to the core of modern policing and aligns with the vision of the Edo State Command to foster closer ties with the people, promote transparency, and strengthen public confidence in policing efforts across the State. In line with the outlined programme of activities, the Edo State Police Command will be rolling out the following engagements: •Monday, 30th March, 2026: Environmental sanitation exercise across designated areas within the State, alongside a free medical outreach programme which will be stationed at Ring Road, Benin City, aimed at providing accessible healthcare services, particularly to vulnerable members of the public and town hall meetings with stakeholders across the state. •Tuesday, 31st March, 2026: A Walkathon within Benin City to encourage unity, physical wellness, and improved Police-community relations. •Wednesday, 1st April, 2026: community engagements including public sensitization campaigns across strategic locations, focusing on the dangers of electoral violence, responsible civic conduct, and road safety awareness. •Thursday, 2nd April, 2026: Activities dedicated to honouring the memories of fallen heroes, including support initiatives for their families within the Command. The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, emphasizes that these activities are not merely ceremonial, but are practical steps toward deepening trust, enhancing collaboration, and ensuring that policing in Edo State remains people-driven and service-oriented. The Command therefore calls on community leaders, youth groups, market associations, civil society organizations, religious bodies, and all well-meaning residents of Edo State to come out en masse and actively participate in the scheduled programmes, particularly the medical outreach at Ring Road and the Walkathon, as their involvement is crucial to building the strong Police-community partnership we all desire.
