Feel the pride of our youths, over 300 of them sponsored for JAMB, now chasing dreams that once seemed impossible. Picture mothers and traders smiling as they power their businesses with grinding machines, generators, and interest-free loans that are lifting entire families out of hardship. In just two years, Honorable Dr. Edosa Richard has turned promises into reality. He has installed over 1,000 solar streetlights that chase away darkness and fear from our streets, provided solar boreholes that now flow in every ward, facilitated the building of new Primary Health Centres that are saving lives, reconstructed market bays in Ogiso and Agbado to boost trade, secured civil service jobs for our sons and daughters, and even donated laboratory equipment to UNIBEN to train the doctors of tomorrow. As a medical doctor himself, he fights tirelessly for us in the House, championing health bills, cracking down on quackery, and serving as Chairman of the Health Committee and Deputy Chief Whip, always putting people first. It was a privilege to donate laboratory and medical equipments such as Spectrophotometers, Heamatocrete Centrifuge, Bucket Centrifuge, Ph meters, Water distillers, Spirometer and Glass wares to the Department of Medical Biochemistry, School of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Benin. Modern equipment is the backbone of medical research and training. With better tools, our students can learn more effectively, conduct meaningful research, and contribute to stronger healthcare outcomes for our people. In a recent plenary session, I highlighted the dangerous practices harming our healthcare system. Unqualified individuals in pharmacies and chemist shops are giving injections and performing minor surgeries, which should only be done by trained professionals in hospitals. The unchecked sale of harmful drugs like tramadol and codeine is ruining the lives of our youth. Private clinics and laboratories are springing up rapidly, overwhelming the Ministry of Health’s ability to monitor them. Most troubling are the fake practitioners using so-called "computerized" devices to provide false diagnoses and unverified treatments, leading to preventable deaths in our communities. The Edoherma Bill will establish a dedicated agency to regulate health facilities across Edo State, ensuring safe, quality care for all, especially the most vulnerable. This bill will stop quackery and protect our people from exploitation. I earnestly call on my honorable colleagues in the Edo State House of Assembly to support this vital legislation.
