I warmly congratulate my younger brother and friend in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria, Comrade Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna State, as he turns 55 on December 31.   The life, struggles, and triumphs of Governor Sani glisten with golden lessons, especially for our younger ones. As a young man, he identified a noble purpose for his life: the quest for a free and egalitarian society. It was a cause that some of us chose not for personal gain or self-promotion, but for the betterment of our society and the freedom of our people.   Governor Uba Sani represents a rare generation of leaders whose journey into power was preceded by sacrifice and principle. As a young student leader and later a pro-democracy activist during the dark days of military rule, he stood firmly on the side of justice, freedom, and national unity. At a time when fear was widespread and silence tempting, he—like a few of us—chose the more challenging path of conviction. In power, he has not abandoned the history of struggle; somewhat, it has matured into statesmanship, guiding his conduct in office with humility, empathy, and resolve.   As a Senator of the Federal Republic in the 9th National Assembly, Uba Sani proved himself a reformist lawmaker and a thinker. His legislative contributions, particularly the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020, demonstrated foresight and a deep understanding of Nigeria's future. That legislation strengthened financial stability, embraced innovation, laid a solid foundation for fintech growth and expanded access to credit for businesses and entrepreneurs. It remains a testament to his capacity to deliver enduring reforms.   Since assuming office as Governor on May 29, 2023, Uba Sani has brought a refreshing tone to governance in Kaduna State. He has proven that he is not just a man of conviction, but also a man of compassion. His dedication to dialogue, reconciliation, and development continues to inspire the diverse people of Kaduna State.   Through Governor Sani's peculiar and deliberate inclusive governance model, he has united the people, healed ethnic and religious divisions and restored trust across communities. Kaduna, once burdened by recurrent tensions, has witnessed remarkable calm and cohesion under his watch. Birni Gwari, which was once desolate due to banditry, has gotten its groove back, with farmers returning to their farms and agricultural commerce booming. By engaging traditional rulers, religious leaders and local communities as partners in peace, Governor Sani has deepened safety, security and fostered sustainable development.   His administration's achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, industrialisation, and agriculture reflect a clear understanding that development must touch lives equitably. By reconnecting communities, expanding access to quality healthcare, and empowering farmers as drivers of food security and economic stability, Governor Sani has transformed governance in the state and positioned Kaduna for long-term prosperity.   Governor Uba Sani has also been a trusted and reliable ally of this administration. His commitment to the ideals and objectives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his active participation in advancing our Renewed Hope Agenda reaffirm his belief that democracy must deliver tangible benefits to the people.   As Uba Sani turns 55, I am proud of his remarkable trajectory, from pro-democracy activist to a key participant in the collective effort to consolidate democratic gains and good governance.   As you mark this milestone in prayer, I join your family, friends, and the good people of Kaduna State in wishing you good health, strength, greater accomplishments, and renewed wisdom to continue your selfless service to our country.   Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria December 30, 2025

NEW TAX LAWS WILL COMMENCE ON JANUARY 1, 2026 AS PLANNED The new tax laws, including those that took effect on June 26, 2025, and the remaining acts scheduled to commence on January 1, 2026, will continue as planned. These reforms are a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a fair, competitive, and robust fiscal foundation for our country. The tax laws are not designed to raise taxes, but rather to support a structural reset, drive harmonisation, and protect dignity while strengthening the social contract. I urge all stakeholders to support the implementation phase, which is now firmly in the delivery stage. Our administration is aware of the public discourse surrounding alleged changes to some provisions of the recently enacted tax laws. No substantial issue has been established that warrants a disruption of the reform process. Absolute trust is built over time through making the right decisions, not through premature, reactive measures. I emphasise our administration's unwavering commitment to due process and the integrity of enacted laws. The Presidency pledges to work with the National Assembly to ensure the swift resolution of any issue identified. I assure all Nigerians that the Federal Government will continue to act in the overriding public interest to ensure a tax system that supports prosperity and shared responsibility. All what you need to know about Forest Guards is here in this article👇. "Forest Guards and the Long Road to Securing Nigeria’s Ungoverned Spaces For decades, Nigeria’s forests and vast stretches of ungoverned land have represented one of the most persistent blind spots in the country’s internal security architecture. What should ordinarily be ecological assets sources of livelihoods, biodiversity and economic value gradually became sanctuaries for bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, illegal miners and all manner of violent criminal networks. From the North-West to the North-Central belt, and increasingly across other regions, these forests evolved into launchpads for attacks and safe havens for fugitives escaping conventional security patrols. This did not happen overnight. As population growth, climate pressures and economic dislocations strained rural communities, criminal groups exploited the state’s limited presence in forested and border areas. Conventional policing, designed primarily for urban and semi-urban environments, struggled to adapt. Security agencies were expected to police territories they barely knew—dense forests, unmapped paths, and difficult terrain where locals possessed far superior knowledge of the land. The result was a cat-and-mouse game in which criminals retained the advantage, melting into the bushes after every attack and returning when attention shifted elsewhere. It is against this historical backdrop that the creation of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NFHSS)—popularly known as the Forest Guards—must be understood. This Security Service is a deliberate attempt to address a several-decades-old structural weakness in Nigeria’s security framework: the inability to effectively secure forests and other vast, lightly governed spaces. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu authorised the establishment of the NFHSS after the National Assembly passed the enabling Bill into law. That decision reflects a growing consensus within Nigeria’s security community that winning the fight against insecurity requires taking the battle to where criminals actually operate—not merely responding after attacks have occurred. The Forest Guards are designed to fill a critical gap. With insecurity increasingly rooted in forested areas, their primary responsibility is to take charge of forest security and deal decisively with criminal elements that use these environments as hideouts, transit routes or operational bases. The successful birth of this initiative owes much to the steady coordination and strategic vision of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). The National Security Adviser has played a pivotal, if understated, role in aligning policy intent with operational reality—ensuring that this new security service is not only legally grounded but professionally structured, properly vetted and integrated into the broader national security ecosystem. The NFHSS draws its strength from a principle that Nigerian security policy must be community-anchored. Forest Guards are selected from among local hunters and vigilante groups—men and women who understand the terrain, the footpaths, the forests, and the subtle rhythms of the environment better than any outsider ever could. To ensure professionalism and prevent abuse, this local recruitment is complemented by rigorous oversight. Names submitted by Local Governments undergo background checks by the Department of State Services (DSS). Only those who pass these screenings are admitted. In total, 70,000 Forest Guards have been recruited, in line with Federal Character principles, ensuring national spread and balance. This hybrid model—local expertise backed by federal oversight—addresses one of the core failures of past security interventions: the absence of trust, intelligence flow and terrain familiarity at the grassroots level.

Breaking: NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu Unveils 7,000 Forest Guards, Set for Immediate Deployment. The graduation ceremonies were held on 27 December 2025 across Borno, Sokoto, Yobe, Adamawa, Niger, Kwara, and Kebbi States. The programme is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture by denying terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal groups sanctuary within forested and hard-to-reach terrains. The training programme was deliberately intensive, structured, and demanding, designed to transform loyal and committed Nigerians into agile, disciplined, and capable field operatives. The curriculum integrated environmental conservation principles with advanced security competencies, ensuring a balanced, professional, and mission-ready force. “These Forest Guards are not just uniformed personnel. They are first responders, community protectors, and a critical layer of Nigeria’s security architecture. They will hold ground, gather intelligence, and support security agencies in reclaiming territories previously overtaken by criminal elements.” The NSA confirmed that deployment will commence immediately, with no gap between graduation and operational duty. “There will be no delay between graduation and deployment. Salaries and allowances will commence immediately, and every certified guard will proceed directly to assigned duty posts,” he stated thejour.com/?p=11653

ALLEGED ₦8.7 BILLION MONEY LAUNDERING SCANDAL: COURT ORDERS DETENTION OF MALAMI, HIS SON, AND WIFE IN KUJE CORRECTIONAL CENTRE. In a major development that has drawn national attention, a Federal High Court has ordered the remand of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, alongside his son and wife, at the Kuje Correctional Centre, pending further investigations into an alleged ₦8.7 billion money laundering case. The court’s decision follows their arraignment on multiple charges bordering on conspiracy, abuse of office, and the unlawful transfer and concealment of public funds amounting to ₦8.7 billion. Prosecutors informed the court that the alleged financial misconduct involved questionable transactions coordinated through private accounts and business fronts, raising serious concerns about the misuse of public office for personal enrichment. After listening to arguments from both the prosecution and defense, the presiding judge ruled that all three accused persons be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre until the next hearing date, emphasizing the need to ensure transparency and prevent interference with ongoing investigations. The case has generated widespread reactions across the country, with many Nigerians closely following the proceedings as yet another high-profile anti-corruption probe under the current administration.

Progress Update: Dualization of 9th Mile (Enugu) – Otukpo – Makurdi Road Phase II. Significant work is ongoing at Chainage CH68+350 as part of the dualization of the 9th Mile (Enugu) – Otukpo – Makurdi Road, a major component of the Abuja – Keffi – Akwanga – Lafia – 9th Mile Superhighway Project (Contract No. 6448). At this stage of construction, teams are actively engaged in stone base installation, an essential foundation layer that ensures strength, durability, and long-term stability of the road pavement. The site remains a hub of activity, with tipper trucks delivering aggregates, motor graders shaping and leveling the base, rollers compacting layers to engineering standards, and paving equipment preparing the corridor for subsequent asphalt works. All operations are executed under strict technical supervision, guaranteeing compliance with project specifications and international best practices. This consistent on-ground momentum is a practical reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), demonstrating the administration’s drive to modernize Nigeria’s transport infrastructure. It also underscores the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Works, under the leadership of Hon. Minister Engr. David Umahi, FNSE, to deliver durable, timely, and transformative federal highway projects that improve mobility, enhance trade routes, and stimulate economic development across regions. Step by step, the vision for safer and more efficient connectivity is becoming a reality.

Let me educate you. You are outraged that Dave Umahi described Peter Obi as a nonentity, yet you casually labelled the same Dave Umahi a buffoon. That contradiction alone exposes the hypocrisy at play. If words suddenly matter, then they must matter consistently, not only when they favour your side. Politically, Dave Umahi was correct. After eight years of power in the North, rotation conventionally returns the presidency to the South. That was the logic that defined 2023. It could have gone to the South West, the South South, or the South East. Peter Obi was eligible. So was Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Tinubu won. End of debate. Once power returned to the South and landed in the South West, it became politically unrealistic for another Southerner, particularly from the South East, to immediately succeed him. Tinubu is constitutionally positioned to serve two term(he will win in 2027). After that, power is expected to rotate back to the North for another eight years before returning to the South again. This is the reality of Nigerian power politics, whether you like it or not. Pretending otherwise is self deception. As things stand today, the 2027 presidential election is already is already won and lost. Emotional outrage cannot override political arithmetic. Now to the uncomfortable truth. Since Peter Obi entered the race in 2023, the South East has become more isolated, not more influential. Nigerians now know that you don't need the Southeast to win Presidential election. Politics is coalition building. No region wins alone. The South East currently lacks broad trust, strategic alliances, and disciplined political coordination across regions. That is not an insult. It is a fact. Today, the APC controls three out of five states in the South East. Dave Umahi belongs to the ruling party. He operates within the structure that produces presidents in Nigeria. By sheer political logic, he stands closer to power than Peter Obi, who remains outside the dominant coalition. Politics is not driven by sentiments, social media noise, or moral grandstanding. It is driven by structure, timing, alliances, and power. Those who refuse to understand this will keep shouting while others quietly win.
Obiasogu David@afrisagacity

I just saw this VIDEO where Dave Umahi referred to Peter Obi as a “nonentity” while threatening Ebonyi communities of exclusion and abandonment if they fail to vote for Tinubu in 2027. Also, in the video, he said it wasn’t the Igbos' turn yet. And when it’d be the turn of the Igbos, he’d “be there.” Clearly, the buffoon has a Presidential interest, like his political twins, Soludo, in Anambra and Uzodinma, in Imo. It is apparent that, in 2027, these three aging “idiots” will be thrice as brutal as they were in 2023. They’d stop at nothing to ensure Peter Obi fails in the South East in 2027. Their wishful, self-aggrandizing interest in becoming the “First Nigerian President from the Igbo extraction” is the craze that is decimating their senses. Well, Dave Umahi’s blather doesn’t give any concern. He made the speech in a gathering of his political circle - his sycophants and political “Hallelujah Boys.” When it is time for the elections, the people will respond.✍️

Renewed Hope is truly becoming a reality. Update on the ongoing Bauchi–Gombe Road reconstruction under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. For many years, the people of Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and parts of Borno State have endured untold hardship due to the poor condition of the Bauchi–Gombe Road. Anyone who travelled on this route in the past understands how difficult and frustrating the journey used to be it was one of the worst road experiences in the entire region. However, today the narrative is changing. Under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, this critical road is currently undergoing major rehabilitation. The first phase of the project is nearing completion, bringing relief to countless commuters, motorists, and businesses who rely on this corridor for daily activities, trade, and regional connectivity. We extend our sincere appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for restoring the hope of the people of the North-East, especially residents of Bauchi and Gombe States. A special commendation also goes to our dedicated and hardworking Minister of Works, who is tirelessly ensuring the fulfilment of President Tinubu’s promises. The progress on this road is a testament to commitment, leadership, and service to the nation.
