Joint statement from the leaders of 🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🇮🇹 🇳🇱 🇯🇵 🇨🇦 🇰🇷 🇳🇿 🇩🇰 🇱🇻 🇸🇮 🇪🇪 🇳🇴 🇸🇪 🇫🇮 🇨🇿 🇷🇴 🇧🇭 🇱🇹 on the Strait of Hormuz: We condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure including oil and gas installations, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces. We express our deep concern about the escalating conflict. We call on Iran to cease immediately its threats, laying of mines, drone and missile attacks, and other attempts to block the Strait to commercial shipping, and to comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. Freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle of international law, including under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The effects of Iran’s actions will be felt by people in all parts of the world, especially the most vulnerable. Consistent with UNSC Resolution 2817, we emphasise that such interference with international shipping and disruption of global energy supply chains constitute a threat to international peace and security. In this regard, we call for an immediate comprehensive moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations. We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait. We welcome the commitment of nations engaging in preparatory planning. We welcome the International Energy Agency decision to authorise a coordinated release of strategic petroleum reserves. We will take further steps to stabilise energy markets, including working with producing nations to increase output. We will also work to support the most affected countries, including through the United Nations and the international financial institutions. Maritime security and freedom of navigation benefit all countries. We call on all states to respect international law and uphold the fundamental principles of international prosperity and security.

For years, we were told by successive governments that we can’t proscribe the IRGC as it would mean “we can’t talk to the regime”. Now we discover that British officials partied with that same regime weeks after it butchered thousands of its own people. Shameful doesn’t cover it.

BREAKING: 130 cross-party MPs and Peers co-sign letter led by CFI Honorary President Lord Polak CBE and Lord Mendelsohn, urging the UK Government to fast-track legislation to proscribe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). They welcome confirmation that the Home Office is preparing legislation to proscribe hostile state agencies, including the IRGC. No timeline has been set, however, and the parliamentarians state: "With the situation in Iran deteriorating rapidly and the IRGC’s hostile activities continuing abroad, it is vital that this legislation be prioritised and brought forward urgently." "The European Union has taken decisive steps to proscribe the IRGC. Any delay of action from the United Kingdom risks leaving us out of step with our closest partners."

Deputy leader of @TheGreenParty, Mothin Ali, joins a rally in London in support of the Islamic regime in Iran—the same regime that has the official slogan “Death to England” & has plotted more than 20 terror attacks on British soil. The Greens are a threat to national security.

France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have released a joint statement amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, stating that they are committed to taking the “necessary measures” to defend their own interests and those of their allies in the region, which it states could include “enabling proportionate military defensive measures to destroy Iran's ability to fire missiles and drones at the source,” potentially striking launch sites in Iran.

ELNET stands firmly with the 🇺🇸 and 🇮🇱 as they undertake targeted military action to dismantle the Iranian regime's nuclear, missile, and terror proxy threat, and its domestic repression organs. We strongly condemn Iran's indiscriminate and intentional ballistic missile attacks on civilian targets in Israel and the region. Read #ELNET's full statement here 👇

Iran’s regime has brutalised its own people, molested its neighbours, funded international terrorism, kidnapped British nationals, and attempted to develop a nuclear weapon. We have tried diplomatic means to stop this behaviour, Iran’s leaders have rejected diplomacy. I still speak to contacts in the region whose countries are threatened daily by Iran’s brutal leaders. This is why the US and Israel have initiated military action. We must stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies.

Italy’s Senate has approved the base text of a bill that would codify the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism into national law and allow authorities to ban rallies deemed antisemitic. If ultimately adopted, the legislation could place Italy among the first countries to criminalize antisemitic hate speech using the IHRA framework.

14 European countries have announced that they are closing the Baltic Sea to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet, according to a joint statement released by the UK government. The countries warned that tankers concealing their origin, by changing flags, switching off transponders, or operating without proper documentation, will be treated as vessels without nationality. Such ships may be detained without legal risk. Russia was also accused of deliberately interfering with satellite navigation systems, posing a serious threat to maritime safety and complicating rescue operations in the event of accidents. The statement was signed by Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, marking over 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We remember the 6 million Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. As survivors grow fewer and antisemitism rises, today is more vital than ever.

Honoured to speak at the @FCDOGovUK today for a moving Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony. We remember the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis and honour the survivors who carry the flame of truth. It was a privilege to be joined by Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP and Holocaust survivor @MalaTribich, who shared her harrowing testimony with immense courage. We must ensure the lessons of the past are never forgotten and that antisemitism is fought with full force.
