This is the result of the ceremonial church — tradition‑driven church, calendar‑driven church, even pagan‑influenced church practices. They fixed dates like Christmas and Easter, and over time it turned Christianity into a seasonal celebration instead of a daily walk with God. Now the church is suffering for it, because people wait for events instead of living in relationship with Christ every day.

Christ is risen from the dead, and with him, we too rise to new life! This Easter proclamation embraces the mystery of our lives and the destiny of history, reaching us even in the depths of death. #Easter

So I’m responding to Kelly’s childish response before he/she blocked me, with one thing. At some point find a searchable Bible online and ask it to search for the word father. You will find that the Scripture writers, which I hope we both agree are inspired, use the term father quite often when not referring to God the Father. Are all these Scripture writers sinning Kelly? Or is it that you don’t understand what Jesus is saying here? I would go with the latter.

The Bible has nothing flattering to say about the papal system. It does not present it as a champion of God’s work. It warns, it exposes, it calls people out of deception. You won’t find the word “Catholic” or “Papal Rome” in Scripture. That’s not how prophecy works. It gives descriptions, not labels. Daniel and Revelation were written long before that name existed. Besides, God still has sincere people in that system who have not seen the full truth yet, and will come out. But the system prophecy points to is obviously Papal Rome. Papal Rome is also the beast power (first beast, man of sin, son of perdition, the wh*re). Every identifying mark lines up. It is not just one, and not just two, all of them. Scripture says that the Papal Power receives its authority from Satan [Revelation 13:2]. History shows how it operated during the Dark Ages, control over conscience, persecution, forced religion. Rome has been quietly amassing power and control again. It is ruthless and that ruthless pattern will return again in full force. Papal Rome presents itself as holy. It looks sacred. It speaks like it represents God, however, it does not. It is a system built on authority that competes with God’s Word. Judgment is coming for Rome and everything built on deception will be destroyed. No exception. This is not about attacking people. It is about warning them. Come to Jesus. Know Him for yourself. Turn from anything that stands against His Word. Once you know the real Christ, you won’t stay in a system that tries to replace Him.

@anglochog What can we say? There are just as many idiots in our hierarchy as there is in yours. The only difference the Catholic Church doesn’t give them the authority to make these changes, no matter how much they want to.

The best way to refute Roman Catholicism? Just smile and continue to point them to the Bible (the actual authority, whether it’s recognized or not).

@DrShayPhD At least you admit that your sect isn’t the one in Scripture founded by Christ Himself. Only one Church can make that claim on historical basis; the Catholic Church. So again why on this sacred time why have you decided it was a good thing to denigrate the Church of Christ?

@EmiteRose You’re right, you won’t find “Adventist” in the Bible. That’s the point. Prophecy warns about systems that oppose truth, not those that follow it. Show me one verse that warns against keeping God’s commandments and the faith of Jesus [Revelation 14:12].

@kellymarierago @DrShayPhD I’m not sure you understand what a sect is. We’ve been doing Biblical baptisms before there was a NT.

@rickbrennanjr Well to be fair to Bree, there is no uniformed understanding of Sola Scriptura among those who claim to follow it.

This question demonstrates a misunderstanding of sola Scriptura. No Reformer or Reformed theologian argued that Christians may only believe or practice what is explicitly stated in Scripture. Rather, sola Scriptura teaches that Scripture is the only infallible authority: not the only authority. The church may establish traditions, practices, and calendars (like Good Friday), so long as they are consistent with and derived from Scripture, not imposed as binding doctrine apart from it. So yes, Protestants observe Good Friday and the same date as the entirety of the Western church. Not because Scripture specifies this date, but because Scripture clearly teaches the event: Christ’s atoning death. The church, in wisdom, sets aside a day to remember what Scripture reveals. That is categorically different from doctrines that must be believed for salvation yet lack clear grounding in Scripture. So, the issue is not tradition vs. no tradition. The issue is which traditions are faithful to Scripture, and which claim authority equal to it. That is the dividing line the Reformers drew, and it remains the dividing line between Roman Catholics and Protestants today.
Bree Solstad@BreeSolstad

Does anyone know why reformed, calvinists, evangelicals, etc. all celebrate Easter? The date of Easter is set by the Catholic Church. Why would they follow a Church they call pagan, the harlot, the seat of the anti-Christ, and the synagogue of satan? This really perplexes me.

Yeah, I get that, I can read, and have read St. Ignatius’ writings more than a few times. But the fact that Jesus came in the flesh doesn’t take away from the fact that this Holy Flesh is in the Holy Eucharist. And the argument was that the Holy Eucharist can only be the Flesh and Blood of Christ, if Jesus came in the Flesh!

@EmiteRose @AL_J82 @88mph121 You have to read the fine print. This is Ignatius speaking against the "Docetists" who believed that Jesus was a spirit and not flesh. Ignatius is stressing that Jesus said what He did to prove that He really did come in the flesh, otherwise, he wouldn't have said it.

The early church's arguments for the Eucharist was ONLY about proving Him taking on a human form NOT whether or not we were consuming His literal flesh and blood.
