Always sad on 12 December as it’s the day my father died 13 years ago He suffered several preventable medical errors but he never complained It started my human factors and patient safety journey including a 2019 PhD I dedicate all the work & achievements to his memory ❤️

When things go wrong and complications pile up, giving up would be the easy option. But stopping won’t get me where I need to be. I keep going because I must. I keep going because my story isn’t finished yet. I've got chapters to write on grit, courage, and stubborn hope.

This is Endives au jambon sauce béchamel 🇫🇷 the kind of dish you’ll find in a French routier at lunchtime. My mum makes it every autumn when endives are in season, and it never fails to taste like home. Enjoy 🍴✨

My posts at the moment might not reflect my daily positive narrative of the last 5 years but I am far from done. I'm receiving incredible support on here. Unfortunately, a tiny minority haven't, calling for me to 'be put of my misery' which I find abhorrent. Those people are blocked. I never give up. This will take time. I have the will to live and I will.

@AbbieTBee That’s good, unless you limit your audience on X, anyone can read & interpret your posts, just as I did (with a 30 year career in the NHS behind me). We all know ‘life long learning’ in healthcare is tough, however I can assure you there will be significant rewards

@Emma_Read None of my clinical management plans will be based on what part of the nephron is absorbing the most phosphate I take your point but Id agree more if my complaint was to condition management etc,

Honestly at 3am in resus I really couldn't care what part of the nephron most bicarb is absorbed. This is painfully dry. 30th can't arrive quickly enough. Im over it.

@AbbieTBee Your post doesn’t mention exams. ‘Dry exam content’ will be a real patient one day & then you will rely on all you have learnt to elicit the best outcome

@HeatherC_RN Oh how interesting!! I think what’s getting my itch is that a few mornings in a row the last few months I’ve seen a lot of nicu babies bought in, got me curious and wanting to know more, especially now a job adverts out!

Are adult nursing skills transferable to a neonatal nurse role? I’m wanting to scratch an itch but unsure if it’s suitable as an adult nurse to apply!
