Calling out locals for wanting basic peace is one thing, but painting any concern as racism/xenophobia while defending expats’ right to enjoy life is fair.

Suggesting Bangladeshi expats are too “physically strong” for police to handle is another layer of dangerous stereotyping and xenophobia. It reduces people to ethnic physical threats rather than individuals celebrating football peacefully. The World Cup thrives on passion fans worldwide cheer teams without their own country playing. These joyful gatherings foster unity, not conflict.

The World Cup fever has taken over the entire world, and the Maldives is no exception. Football is a global game that brings people together. Fans everywhere celebrate their teams with passion and prideand there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Calling this kind of celebration a problem seems unnecessarily xenophobic. people are simply enjoying the moment and expressing their love for the sport. They are not vandalizing property, causing damage, engaging in violence, or creating public disorder. They are not even blocking traffic.
