Notice how Muslims have zero issues with Christians taking over Trafalgar Square today? No Muslims disturbed the event, no Muslims had anything negative to say about Christians getting on with their worship. Big contrast to a few weeks ago when social media and extremist politicians in Reform and the Tories were going crazy during Eid. My only conclusion is that us Muslims are an inherently more tolerant lot.

Another thing I notice whenever capitalism is criticized is the immediate reflex to bring up socialism and the chant of how many people suffered under it, how many died, and how it is not sustainable bla bla bla. But criticizing capitalism is not the same as endorsing another existing system. Recognizing the failures of one model does not mean blindly defending another. Yes, there may be systems that address some of capitalism’s flaws more effectively, but none of the systems we know are without serious problems of their own. The point is not to switch dogmas. The point is to acknowledge that the current structure is deeply flawed. What humanity ultimately needs is a system that is ecologically sustainable and organized around human needs, rather than endless extraction and accumulation. Will such a system suddenly appear? Of course not. But systems evolve the same way ideas do, gradually, as more people begin to recognize the limitations and dangers of what currently exists.
