1. Change/flush the tranny oil every 30k. 2. Change/flush the coolant every 30k 3. Service the turbo, cleaner for the valves (soot build up) every 30k. 4. Buy an OBD II scanner (less than $100) for yourself and hook it up once a month to see if it’s throwing a code. It connects below your steering wheel and you can run it through your iPhone or Android. It sounds anal but you’ll keep it on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles. Rolling the dice, if not. Extended warranty is fine but these 3 easy steps are your personal insurance policy and don’t stray. The dealer will say…”oh you have the extended warranty yadda yadda yadda” but abide by my few pieces of advice and you’ll have this car for many years, if that matters to you. Lastly, you don’t need to pay dealer service prices, just find a good mechanic (and a tranny guy for the tranny oil change) and enjoy your car. If you go through cars every few years then screw it and get rid of it. This car will age like a fine wine, if you protect it. Enjoy.

I'm excited I finally bought my car. I've always wanted a 740i but the new ones were over 100k but I found one that was in cherry condition with 58k miles on it and a terrific price I sprung for the $$$ BMW extended warranty because you don't want something to break on this car out of warranty. Weird thing is I'm only paying $100 a month more that my old BMW. Hope I made a good choice. I've always wanted this car but it was always too expensive or too high miles.

@mitchellvii Nice, I have a BMW and a Mercedes. I do most of my own maintenance. Do your oil changes every 5 to 6k miles using full synthetic oil.

@Pittsburgh1Pete Love the convenience, but Sam’s rotisserie chickens aren’t as clean as they seem. They’re injected with sodium solutions, heavily processed, and can pack ~550mg sodium in 3oz. Hot packaging in plastic raises concerns too—solid occasionally, not a staple.

I’m convinced that there’s no better deal on the planet than Sam’s Club Rotisserie chicken for $4.98! Buy two and have food for the family to last all week! What other great deals are out there most people don’t realize?
