Commentator on @itvfootball doing my head in going on about the Belgium penalty being the last kick of the game. Does he not know any stoppages for VAR, subs, injuries in added time will be added on? Be at least another 6 minutes to play.

@WilJay_1 The chinese cars are cheaply made & utter crap. Made with cheap labour and massive chinese government subsidies that means the companies aren't fussed about selling anything as they just get paid to build. Some maybe well built but many aren't & warranties are.dreadful.

@schadjoe Visibly offside by human eye & similar would be given as offside by asst referees everyday of the week. You would be absolutely raging if a player got away without being called offside for that against you. No player would be upset being called offside for that.

@Neil_Bloch @StanCollymore I forget which game it was, there was an injury. A player was receiving treatment but the referee stopped players getting any drinks or the teams using the natural stoppage for the "hydration" break, game restarted and 2 minutes later hydration break. Why? TV ads that's why!

@StanCollymore Have you ever played a sport for more than 45 minutes straight? Would your performance had been better with a short break to hydrate and rest? Do you think fans want to see athletes perform at their best?

Hydration breaks. Football is a game of momentum and anyone who's ever watched a thrilling 90 minutes would agree that most players or supporters would give up a half time break when a great game is being played. Why? Stops destroy that momentum and flow of the incredible spectacle of association football. Our sport, a 150 year old sport no less, is the world's most popular to watch and to play. Not the NFL Not the NBA Not MLB Association Football. So a few pundits, fans and journalists doing TV and sponsors bidding by opining that hydration breaks are a good idea couldn't give one good reason as to how the game would be made better. Coaches work SEVEN DAYS A WEEK to drill instruction into players, so in game instruction isn't needed. Players can hydrate whenever they like. They're not fucking babies needing a feed. The breaks CREATE a STOP OF MOMENTUM. And I've never seen one match in thousands I've watched or played in that's been better with more stoppages. Not ONE. So to this angling for change, what makes you think you're so special to change the world's most popular sport to play and watch that's been both of those things for 150 years? Minor tweaks? Absolutely. The back pass rule was being abused, so it was changed. A materially good thing for the players and fans. More breaks? At a time where stops in play for diving, cheating, VAR etc are colliding with hydration breaks? No thanks. Those wanting this are working for broadcasters and sponsors who want a bigger piece of the game. Never forget that. Football. A simple game ruined by football illiterate fucknuts.

@UnFunnyFunnyGuy @henriksen1 Iceland's chant was stolen by Stjarnan fans in 2014 when they played Motherwell who's fans did it. Took it to Iceland and it was then adopted by national team fans. But definitely impressive when done on mass.👍

Unpopular opinion. The Norway fans and their chants and celebrations annoy me. The longer the tournament has gone on, the more irritating I find it. Can't explain it.

@FAmmiranteTFJ @westcoastwashed Absolute nonsense. He just didn't time his run correctly. Spacial awareness is an important skill in football for both attacker to stay onside & Defender to not get caught and move forward to catch attacker offside. Just say you like simple things & football isn't for you.

@F19ADH @AlexiLalas Taking away a goal on a corner is the dumbest thing ever because someone’s toe was 1cm offside. None of what you wrote makes sense because defense doesn’t use this tactic inside the box. You can’t goal hang inside the box and have enough room to maneuver. There is no room.

I don’t care if this World Cup is first soccer you’ve ever watched. You don’t need to defer/refrain. Your reaction and experience is as valid as anyone’s. People may agree/disagree w/ you, but no gatekeeping or purity tests. Come into the tent and have your say. Plenty of room.
Zach Lowy@ZachLowy

I desperately need people who only watch football every 4 years to stop suggesting rule changes. Yes, the offsides rule makes sense. No, there should not be unlimited substitutions. Yes, a penalty shootout is the best way to settle a draw. The world’s biggest sport doesn’t need your alterations.

@jscarpel2 @AlexiLalas You cannot be offside from a corner (or a goal kick or a throw in) the defence DOES play off side in the box, can only assume you're a casual watcher and/or never played. It will depend on the current situation of course but have seen and played in teams that have done this.

@mindofprospect Sorry, not a boomer, just think the grille is ugly as sin and the x lights look like a cartoon character that's either dead or unconscious. Interior wise the screens look awful & steering wheel looks cheap & tacky. Looks like an overdesign vehicle for a footballer's wife. IMHO

Anyone know the laws or guidelines around those creepy Meta glasses? Like am I allowed to be filmed without my permission? Especially inside shops/bars/restaurants ? Surely they are private spaces so the whole 'i can film in public its legal' is bullshit?

@MKTWgoldstein Would say my preference was always in replays, but these have been phased out due to match congestion & WC don't have the time for that, nor the rest time either. Many want the game settled on the day so everyone knows the rules, 120minutes no winner,.its penalties. (2)

@MKTWgoldstein Really do not understand the discourse from Americans over penalties. The teams have had 90mins plus 30mins ET to score. It is an 11v11 game. Penalties are an example of skill & nerve. Can the player cope with the pressure? At the top of the game it is fine. (1)

@retrophisch Why? What is wrong with those? There isn't to play a replay & that would be too much for players in their off season to play. Penalties are a test of skill AND nerve. You have to be mentally strong to take them knowing the pressure on you. Been 90mins + 30min et to avoid them.

Here's another reason why Americans aren't big into soccer: in a tournament with the magnitude of the World Cup, games should never, ever be decided by penalty kicks. They should just keep playing in 15 minute increments of extra time until there's a winner. War of attrition. These are not some regular season league games.

I have tried to get into soccer since the World Cup started. I’ve watched 2 or 3 games just from the social pressure of my friends being into it. I really, really tried. This crap is so boring. I hate it more now than I did before. What garbage.

@ArteHater @Nick___Collins What has that got to do with anything? X feeds are full of folk self described as "NFL" or "NBA" fans saying stuff like "never really watched this before, but changing these rules would make it better". Can folk not learn it, understand the game first. Don't like it fine, move on

Really, Nick? What’s really wrong. Are you sad because so many people from around the world are posting positive things about our country? Does that make you mad because you didn’t come over? Is it jealousy that has you posting this? Are you jealous about the fans that came over? The freedoms we have that you don’t? What is really going on, Nick?

One thing that this World Cup has been the staggering amount of ignorance from Americans. As well as arrogance. They watch a handful of games and then want the laws of the game changed. Then become offended at being pushed back on their arrogance. There’s a reason football is popular. It’s not a 4 hour commercial fest like American football is. It’s simple to understand. One country doesn’t like it. It’s the country where they’re addicted to commercials and food 🤷🏼‍♂️

@JeffreyTheGreek @BigTast61315354 The name does not go back to its inception. In English 1409 the word "footeballe" was used in a decree by Henry IV in England, in Scotland the Football Act of 1424 banning it uses "fute-ball" and in 1497 the royal accounts shows James IV paying 2 shillings for "fut balls".
