The Taliban's new criminal code disallows pluralism within Islam — a hallmark of the Islamic tradition — and resorts to religious coercion. This will not bring any good to society or religion itself. My criticisms here, beginning at minute 39:00:

Afghanistan’s 🇦🇫 civil and democratic forces, while being diverse, are converging around three major principles: 1- Restoration of a Constitutional State via Popular Sovereignty. 2-Upholding Human Rights: accountability as a means to truth, acknowledgment and reconciliation 3- Upholding Territorial Integrity, Independence and Freedom. A moderate Islamic tradition, an enlightened civilization&culture binds the nations together over centuries. Our current phase of struggle/resistance in all areas and through all legitimate means are directed under these broad principle.

At the Margin of #CSW70 FARAGEER Founder @NehanNargis had a courtesy meeting with Her Excellency @SindiChikunga #Minister of Women, Youth and Persons Disability of #SouthAfrica discussing the situation of women in Afghanistan. They also discussed the global backlash against gender equality which requires global response in action.

At the margin of @CSW, UK’s Special Envoy for Women & Girls @HarrietHarman met a group of Afghan Women coordinated by FARAGEER and discussed the situation of women & girls in Afghanistan. The group requested the UK government to continue granting scholarships and visas for Afghan girls, supporting HRD stuck in neighbouring countries in limbo situation and supporting Afghan women’s campaign of Codification of Gender Apartheid as a crime against humanity. @NehanNargis @HanifaGirowal @PalwashaHasan @ShaistaShams

FARAGEER is deeply concerned about the devastating cross-border airstrikes by Pakistan in Afghanistan, which have so far claimed the lives of 56 innocent civilians and injured 129, including vulnerable women and children. These tragic attacks deepen the suffering of communities already oppressed by the Taliban. The urgent needs for medical care, shelter, and financial support are at risk of being overlooked, further exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis. The lives of countless families hang in the balance, and we must not turn a blind eye to their plight. We call on Pakistan not to harm civilians in its fight against terrorism. The only way to overcome this tragic situation is to support formation an inclusive and legitimate government in Afghanistan which will be account to people of Afghanistan, neighbours and the international community.
