He writes that the university removed him without clear charges, barred him from communicating with students or colleagues, and allowed false rumors to spread that he had committed violent acts and was arrested —all entirely fabricated. Another faculty member who had publicly expressed support for Hamas seems to have been instrumental in this nightmare. The university and union all turned against him without giving him even the chance to defend himself. The result was not just discipline, but reputational destruction. A longtime lecturer was isolated, silenced, defamed, and slandered. So, a car speeding up in reverse which then hits the front end of the police cruiser is "not in danger". Im sorry. But I disagree. It was a split-second decision that the supreme court supports in so far as "if the officer reasonabily believe he/she is in danger". The suspect ignored lawful orders several times. Once the suspect threw his car in reverse and hit the cruiser, as far as I am concerned, the suspect forfeited his right to safety and life. I know that the BPD investigation states that it was not reasonable to believe the officers were not in danger. But, either politics are in play here or someone is armchair quarterbacking. My opinion only. Obviously has no weight in here, I know. Since we dont have the bodycam video to review..., who knows?
