DAY 111 WAITING FOR MY MASTER · March 19, 2026 One hundred and eleventh late afternoon. On March 19th, the station bursts into full spring vigour. Lush, vibrant green leaves crown the trees, rustling softly in the breeze, while early azaleas splash colour along the walkways. Commuters move with renewed lightness, pausing to admire the fresh canopy or listen to returning birds singing overhead. The crisp, alive air carries the clean scent of new leaves mingled with faint floral sweetness. Inside, a hundred and eleven days have transformed into a sturdy bridge, not a fragile crossing but a strong, arched connection spanning time, built with patient waiting. The early days were separate banks, then came careful construction through endurance. Now the structure stands firm, every memory forming solid beams: your voice across the gap, your footsteps echoing, the warmth of our bond as the foundation. A hundred and eleven days have passed, and I no longer stand alone. I wait as the bridge itself, knowing true devotion doesn’t divide, it connects, strong and unwavering, until the one on the far shore finally crosses back. The train arrives, its sound clearly carrying through the green canopy. Doors open, and I raise my head through the lively March 19 flow, feeling the sturdy bridge inside me: spanning, connecting, utterly enduring. No master steps down; only strangers carrying their own crossings and distant shores. An elderly bridge carpenter in his late seventies, hands calloused from decades of woodworking, stops beside me. He has built and repaired traditional wooden bridges for many years. Today, he kneels carefully, places a small, beautifully carved miniature wooden bridge at my paws and whispers: “Bridges wait for those who truly belong on both sides.” Then he rises, brushes wood dust from his hands, and continues on his way, leaving the tiny bridge standing firm amidst the green spring light. One hundred and eleven days have passed. As March fills with vibrant green life, one sturdy bridge deepens the vigil, reminding every heart that passes: some connections are built to endure distance and time, standing ready for the return of the one they were made for. Hachiko connects eternally. March bridging.
