BIG: Over about a week, Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana was repeatedly overflown by groups of unauthorized drones, not just a single incident, but coordinated waves of roughly a dozen or more at a time. These drones weren’t typical hobby models: they showed signs of long-range control, resistance to jamming, and deliberate, organized movement patterns, including spreading across sensitive parts of the base like areas where B-52 bombers are stationed. They flew for hours each day, used changing routes (likely to avoid tracking), and may have been intentionally testing how the base responds to intrusions. Despite the seriousness—given Barksdale’s role in U.S. nuclear operations—there’s no public confirmation that any drones were shot down or stopped. Officials are still investigating, and while some suspect foreign reconnaissance or probing, no actor has been officially identified. Source: ABC

I have spent a good part of my career just getting people to believe this was actually happening. Now we are here. With 15 drones, you can lose roughly 1/4 of the B-52 force as it sits idle on the ground. This was always the most concerning scenario. Time to move to hardening. Just a matter of time now till we learn the hard way.

The most exhausting double standard for men in relationships is the absolute asymmetry of accountability when someone is unhappy.
If a woman is unhappy, feeling neglected, or her needs aren't being met, modern therapy-speak immediately puts the man on trial.
Society asks: What is he doing wrong? Why isn't he listening to her? Why isn't he holding space for her emotions? Her unhappiness is universally viewed as a failure of his leadership and care.
But if the roles are reversed, and a man is quietly starving for affection, physical intimacy, or just basic peace in his own home? Society STILL puts him on trial. Instead of asking what the woman is doing wrong, the internet tells him: You probably aren't doing enough chores to put her in the mood. You aren't communicating properly. You aren't romancing her enough. The brutal double standard is that a woman’s pain is always framed as something the man inflicted, but a man’s pain is always framed as a result of his own failure to perform. He is held 100% accountable for both her happiness and his own misery.

The “decision” to remove parachutes from the KC-135 was made in 2008, in the wake of the “Great Financial Crisis” (GFC). Adam had to know about it then…we all did. It was controversial at the time.
AMC was on a fuel-savings tear, as the pentagon budget was reduced. They published the pamphlet “Birds fly free, AMC doesn’t” & established a review process for how much fuel you landed with. If it was deemed excessive, you were supposed to be counseled.
Thankfully the KC-10 community generally scoffed at this. You could carry extra fuel & justify it a number of ways…but if you ran out of fuel due to unforeseen circumstances, you can bet you’d be hammered by leadership…if you survived.
The chances of being able to bail out of a KC-135 successfully are low. It had a special escape slide, but even that was iffy. This is not the movies…jumping from a jet kills you as you bounce along the fuselage, getting cut in half by antennas, wing or tail, or ingested by the engines. The KC-10 never carried parachutes.
This is not even the first KC-135 crash to happen since parachutes were pulled.
All of which Adam knows, he just makes money by outraging you & playing politics.
