This story really blew up. I think it struck a nerve in the current environment. The previous owner of the clinic told me that back in the day they would be thrilled with 4 - 6 applicants. It is so, so tough for job hunters at the moment. rnz.co.nz/news/business/…

One of my bunnies is so cute but so angry. The only thing she really loves is Teddy, the other bunny. If the weather’s bad I have them indoors at night and then move them back outside when the weathers good. She spends the whole time growling and trying to bite me 🐰🐰😈

Just an example of how depressed the job market is in NZ at the moment. We got 455 applicants for a receptionist role at our vet clinic. That doesn’t include the people that emailed us directly, not through the Seek ad. Totally overwhelming. We’re can’t even read that many CVs.

The face of a boy who didn’t listen to dad and played in the black stinky mud at the park necessitating a cold hose down, shampoo and conditioner when he got home. He’s a good lad though, he holds each leg up to be washed without being asked

Getting solar installed at the clinic. Toby is being a big help but very confused about why voices are coming from our roof cavity. Hoping the solar helps with our monthly power bill. Very much looking forward to charging my electric car with sunbeams.

@DontPe5437 That’s why vet clinic staff end up with all the three legged, one eyed, complicated pets. We love them all the more for their quirks.

@FeltonR Dad used to do the same. Animals dropped off around our place in the country, or the clinic. The ones that had severe issues (medical/ trauma/ aggression /abuse) he would keep rather than saddle someone with them. He would also spay/ neuter & microchip them for free.

One thing we get at the clinic quite often is animals handed in who are stray but clearly someone’s pet. We hold onto them and try and track down the owners but if we can’t we have to eventually rehome them with staff or a member of the public. Like this absolute cutie.

@FeltonR It always amazes me when people chip their pets but then don’t add their details or update them when they move. That is one very cute cat - shame we live in such a busy road and my husband is allergic to cats 😩

@Ips_cali Back from Finland (and Sweden and Estonia) and now I’m in Australia for a conference. Tough life, but someone’s got to do it.
