what a cock-up. We had new ferries under construction two years ago. But they ripped up that contract, at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars, and now we're waiting on new ferries that'll be years late (and their cost is already blowing out) while our old ferries crap out
Thomas Manch@thomas_manch

The freight sector is calling for a third Interislander to be leased, as a looming winter maintenance programme poses scheduling difficulty and potential capacity problems if another ferry fault occurs.

@SimeonBrownMP @SimeonBrownMP it’s a bit rich talking about who will be running the show when it’s very clear that National are definitely NOT running the show in the current Coalition of Chaos. Definitely a case of the tail wagging the dog. Sort out your own mess first.

Labour’s press release count for the fortnight. Zero ideas of their own. But the Greens and Te Pati Māori have plenty - and that’s who’d be running the show.

A charter school gets $45,000 a year per student. A state school gets $9,000. when they start claiming great results from the charter schools ask: what could a state school deliver if you increased its funding 400%?

@SayingItOK @RichardHills_ It’s started rehashing ideas that have already been thrown out by the Supreme Court, and giving private business $18m to rehash it. So you could say that they are fresh out of ideas…

The government is obsessed with fighting ghosts of covid’s past, cause they have no new ideas. But are they really saying they would’ve magically disappeared the inflationary impact of the pandemic? Which happened worldwide. They also advocated for more spending the whole time!

@jackferguson88 I just read it - he’s terrifying. He actually sounds unhinged. Gives off cooker vibes. Should be surprised the Herald actually published that, but sadly I’m not.

No money for diesel relief, but $18million for private backers of a project to flood conservation land in order to create a dam that has already been turned down by the Supreme Court. Says everything about this government’s priorities. #NZPolitics #coalitionofchaos

@radionz Melissa Chan Green is desperate to pick the detail with Chippy's Covid response. He gave her a clear timeline of the sequence of papers released. Is she running another royal inquiry? Does she think she knows more than those that led the official inquiries?

@GayMaxine Many countries have reduced fuel tax, made public transport free or both... NZ has done nothing of the sort? Why because Luxon is utterly out of touch and in analysis paralysis. As a CEO he knew how to cut costs , that was his toolkit. As PM he has no skills for the job... none
