A couple of points about the PROBIT trial: 1. as noted, it was randomization to breastfeeding support not bfding, 2. the IQ assessors were not blinded to the mother's interventions, an important risk of bias

Except that is totally false….PROBIT, the largest randomized controlled trial on human lactation, has found higher IQ scores at age 6.5 years among children randomly assigned at birth into a breastfeeding promotion intervention group than those in routine practice, particularly for verbal IQ.

These findings can reassure parents & clinicians that preterm SGA infants are not at risk of high BMIs / adiposity. So they can be fed to achieve growth outcomes & meet appetite/satiety without undue concern about excess adiposity 🙂 @s_elmrayed

A common SGA question is whether they should be nourished differently than non-SGA. On quick review, results suggest they are not worse off when likely treated the same. Thoughts on how this data may/may not help answer this question?
