@st3v3turn3r @altNOAA Apparently they really don’t trust us. Can’t help but wonder what our escalated response would be?

@altNOAA (With ´neighbour’ spelled the correct way, of course)

@afclark82 @MattBrownLdn @NeedlesOnNews @OnaagoshinAnang It varies greatly municipality to municipality. Some have already taken a big hit the last few years, others are taking a big hit now, some are cutting services to keep increases low. In general it's high, London is slightly higher than average.
English

1 of 2. Mayor uses strong mayor powers and increases taxes by record 33%. If you paid $4000 in 2023, you’ll pay $5300 in 2027. Mayor declares taxes are too high and uses strong mayor powers to strike a committee to find “savings”. /1 london.ctvnews.ca/community-gran…

@ToddDevlin @MattBrownLdn @NeedlesOnNews @OnaagoshinAnang We'll see if I'm still on Twitter in 2 years, this site is feeling very hostile to people with generally progressive views lately. 🤣

@Forward2022 @MattBrownLdn @NeedlesOnNews @OnaagoshinAnang Shouldn’t you be changing your name to 2026 already? 😅
English

@MattBrownLdn @NeedlesOnNews @OnaagoshinAnang There could be some art to taking the political hit of a big budget now, but closer to the next election looking like heroes when those factors push the 4 year run to a lower but still high number.
English

@MattBrownLdn @NeedlesOnNews @OnaagoshinAnang There could be skepticism on the budget increase actually being 33%. A budget is a political document as much as it's financial document. Inflationary pressures are receding, and a lot of assessment growth in coming from new towers opening downtown.
English

@Abetterlondon1 @eyeonthefly @CityofLdnOnt There is a difference between letting it flood, which stores water and prevents downstream damage and enforcing the bank so when it floors we don’t find a new path to the river after waters receded. The work is about making the regular flow bank resilient so it can flood safely.
English

@eyeonthefly City needs to let Harris Park flood so that areas downstream do not. Flood plains relieve pressure from rushing high waters. Their flatness allows water to spill over & slow down protecting areas down stream. Trees aid in slowing down water. @CityofLdnOnt Stormwater interferes.
English

@NeedlesOnNews @MattBrownLdn Does the willingness of LPS to find middle ground also came back to council? Council appoints the LPSB, who then hires the Chief or Police. If the board gets loaded with police hardliners who want more enforcement on everything do we lose our ability to negotiate?
English

@MattBrownLdn All true.
It didn't need to be Zuidema/Paolatto pt. 2, but there clearly is a middle ground here.
Police budget, to me, is the only spot in the 8.8 that I have an issue with. The other stuff was sort of priced in without major service reductions.

3) Last thought, what could possibly go wrong adding alcohol into an already at times hostile minor hockey environment in London?

This appears to be targeted to hockey rinks. The rinks that currently sell alcohol are Bud Gardens, Western Fair and Sports Park, all are run by private operators. Only Bed Gardens has alcohol allowed outside of a bar area.
