Surprised and proud to be nominated, with @OmarMosleh, for a National Newspaper Award, while knowing there is no gala for the people we chronicled who rely on, or work at, safe consumption sites being shuttered by the Ford govt. A few more thoughts here: linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

@richarddeitsch We’ve never liked Americans, to be fair. They’ve always been ignorant and ill-informed about Canada. It was just never hatred for the country, like it is now.

I know there are people reading this who won't give a shit about it — and I'm also an easy unfollow. (I recommend doing so because my X feed sucks.) One of most profoundly shitty things I've seen since I moved to Toronto from NYC is how many Canadians will never see the U.S. the same way because of this stretch. We're talking a generation (minimum) to fix this, in my opinion. These two countries, my two countries, were the greatest of allies (Google Gander, Newfoundland) and as someone with a huge stake in both places, it was one of the most unnecessary things I've ever seen in geopolitics. There are just some days where it pisses me off immensely. Today is one them. Now back to the NCAA Tournament.

At some point, if you are in the Canadian media space defending this kind of endless nonsense — and we have some here in Toronto in print and in audio – you gotta be one of the biggest marks in the history of marks. Dude is not changing. Appeasement does not last. Live in reality, please.

This morning, the Kennedy Center was making arrangements for Bill Maher to receive the Twain Prize. This afternoon, the White House reversed the decision. theatlantic.com/culture/2026/0…

@Aaronpete_ Why does the ‘younger’ generation listen to a 58-year-old man?

Say what you will. But this is huge! Joe Rogan does not have on a lot of politicians - let alone from other countries. On top of that, this isn’t even Joe having on the Prime Minister of a country, he’s having on the Official Opposition leader from Canada 🇨🇦 That’s a big deal. I’m sure I will catch flack for being a Joe Rogan fan but i don’t care. I wouldn’t have started my show without him. This is a big deal for the younger generation, and if you don’t get that - just wait for the impact this has.

Pre-drop scoop: Joe loves Canadians, and maple syrup.

I cannot believe that he honestly thought the answer to his fading polls in Canada was to go on a huge right-wing American podcast. I mean, we’ll see if it helps but I think that’s a fairly large misunderstanding of what’s causing his problems. Respectfully.
