Britain has forgotten one of its most unique talents: producing eccentrics & sending them out into the world. We are the best in the business at this. Our upper class eccentrics were market leading. It is time to return to our roots, our heritage. Embrace the Eccentric.

The Netherlands has 17 million people It exports more food than any country on earth except the United States A nation smaller than West Virginia feeds the world Not because of land: The Dutch have almost none Because of water management, greenhouse engineering, and seed science built over 400 years They did not inherit the land, but built it Then they fed the world with it

Indian versus British city from above. Everything you take for granted about functional cities, such as street naming, addressing, sidewalks, road signs, traffic lights, paved roads --- was invented by Whites. 1. Street Naming: Systematic naming of streets began in 17th century Europe and America. I mean standardized names for administrative control, taxation, and postal services, including grids using numbered or lettered streets (such as Philadelphia's 1682 plan). In the 20th century, while the rest of the world remained in a state of chaos, commemorative naming increased (honoring figures or events). Suburban expansion after WWII led to thematic naming (tree names like Oak Street) for uniformity and functionality. 2. House numbering and addressing: Whites were responsible for house numbering and addressing systems. Informal identification by owner names or descriptions were already a reality in ancient Rome. The 18th century saw the introduction of formal numbering in Europe. In 1728-1729, Paris began to assign numbers sequentially along streets; London followed in 1765 with the Westminster Paving Act. In the late 1790s, Philadelphia implemented a grid-based numbering system, which became widespread by 1850s for postal efficiency. 3. Sidewalks: Among the ancient Romans, raised stone walkways separated from roads were evident. Medieval Europe used dirt or cobble edges for pedestrians. Modern paved sidewalks developed during the 1800s. Paris installed asphalt pedestrian paths in 1850s-1870s. London and American cities followed by mid-century for hygiene and safety. In the early 20th century, US planning emphasized separation from vehicles in response to rising use of autos. From the mid-20th century, the West saw "complete streets" policies with sidewalks. 4. Road Signs: Early 20th century saw first stop sign in Detroit (1915), followed in the 1920s by standardization efforts (octagon for stop, diamond for caution), and later the use of uniform colors and categories. From mid-20th century onward, we see reflective materials (1950s), symbolic designs (1961), specialized signs like deer crossings (1953), and ongoing updates for safety (fluorescent colors in 1970s). 5. Traffic Lights: We witness the first semaphore signal in London in 1868. We see gas-lit with arms for railway control. We see the first electric lights in 1912, installed in Cleveland in 1914. Then we see the famous three-color system (red, amber, green) in Detroit in 1920. The 1920s-1930s saw the spread of automatic timers, a T-shaped manual device. Computerized control began in 1952 in Denver; and vehicle detection systems began in 1967; and adaptive signals in the late 20th century for energy efficiency. 6. Grid systems and crosswalks: As early as 1682, Philadelphia witnessed a grid plan for logical organization. Crosswalks or "Zebra crossings" appear in UK in 1951, and standardized pavement markings in MUTCD revisions from the 1930s onward. Unfortunately, Western cities will decompose with increasing Indian immigration.

Iโ€™ve met people in Dubai who left London, New York, Singapore, Moscow. None of them left because Dubai was perfect. They left because everywhere else stopped making sense. The guy from London got tired of paying 45% tax on every win and watching the city get slower every year. The one from New York couldnโ€™t justify the cost of living for what he was actually getting in return. The one from Singapore felt the walls closing in - great infrastructure, zero soul. None of them came here chasing some dream. They came here running from a reality that stopped adding up. And then something unexpected happened. They built more here in 2 years than they did in the previous 10. Not because Dubai gave them anything special. Because it stopped taking things away. No one is telling you Dubai is paradise. The heat is real. The humidity is real. The distance from home is real. But for a specific type of person - the one whoโ€™s done apologizing for wanting more - this city makes more sense than anywhere else on earth. BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช

WHEN I KNEW ENGLAND WAS "DONE" I don't remember the exact year, but I remember where I was, and how it felt: like I had lost a loved one to a tragedy. For much of my life I wanted to live in the UK. I loved the people and the culture and especially the history and landscape. My wife went to university there. Had friends there. We were married there. We frequently travelled there. I had a business there - just west of London. I can picture it clearly. We had been travelling the country by car - a small red hatchback. We did the the usual bed-and-breakfast and sightseeing. But mostly just engaging with the locals. Near the end we had spent the usual time in London. We were in Heathrow. I was looking at the people, I looked up at the signage above the shops there. I heard news on the monitors, and saw something about in the change of the value of the pound. The economist in me shuddered. And I saw the pattern. I saw the future play out in an instant. And it hit me so hard and so deeply that it sucked the life out of me for weeks. The window of opportunity was lost. My dream of living here amidst the culture I loved vanished. Poverty was the UK future. Immigration had destroyed london - and with it London as the proxy capital of Europe. The people, outside of the very educated classes, were hopelessly addicted to state support, minimum work, minimum effort, and maximum extraction. They wore injuries covered by health care as a badge. They moralized but took no responsibility for it. The country I wanted to live in - what I consider my people's homeland, was dying. And that vision of the future, in that instant, has played out even worse than I'd imagined. So I have cautious hope for Rupert Lowe and Restore Britain. I'm at the age where I can see the end of the road in the distance. And I would prefer to live the last miles of it among my ancestors, and what remains of the history and culture I grew up in love with. Cheers CD

In 850 AD, Arab traders introduced durum wheat to Sicily, a moment that would forever change Italian cuisine. Unlike softer wheat varieties, durum wheat produced semolina, ideal for making dried pasta due to its high protein content and extended shelf life. This innovation allowed pasta to be preserved for long journeys, making it a highly tradable commodity across the Mediterranean. By 11th Century AD, under Norman rule, Sicily had become a major pasta producer, with historical sources mentioning "itriyya," an early form of dried pasta known in Arab cultures. This pasta was lightweight, non-perishable, and easy to transport, fueling its expansion across Italy and beyond. Genoese and Venetian merchants helped spread dried pasta further, cementing its role in European trade networks. As pasta-making techniques evolved, Italy perfected its craft, incorporating local flavors and creating regional varieties. By the Renaissance, pasta was deeply embedded in Italian culinary traditions, paving the way for the global pasta industry we know today. What began as an Arab agricultural innovation in Sicily eventually turned Italy into the undisputed pasta capital of the world, a title it still holds. #archaeohistories

The question of how Epstein got so rich is largely solved. The New York Times reports that Leon Black gave him $170 million to deal with women he had relationships with, in addition to other financial stuff. As rappers often warn us, women can bring down powerful men. The wealthier and more famous you are, the more control she has. People get this completely backwards. They think that rich and powerful men have more power over women. Let's say you're a man who makes $100,000 a year. If you have a relationship that goes south, there's not much a bitter woman could do to hurt you if you haven't done anything wrong. If you're a famous billionaire, a woman might think to herself "hm...I could accuse him of assault. The allegation alone would be so embarrassing he'd probably give me a lot of money to make it go away. A million dollars is everything to me and nothing to him, so maybe I am a victim of abuse of some sorts." Gold diggers and manipulative women will seek out rich and famous men, while no one will go into a relationship with a man who earns $100K expecting to get rich off it. There are lawyers who specialize in this kind of extortion. According to The New York Times, Black paid $20 million to a dozen women. Maybe he treated them poorly. But if a normal guy treats a woman poorly, she just sucks it up and moves on with her life, unless it rises to the level of criminal activity. If he's a billionaire, it's like winning the lottery. The real power disparity involving rich men is how vulnerable they are when dealing with women. The Epstein narrative is completely backwards. A bunch of salacious, unsubstantiated allegations led to him dying in a jail cell. He's the victim, not the women who got rich off what were most likely lies (and even if they were true, the women ended up better off than they wouldโ€™ve otherwise been).

A response to my critics. Suicide of a Nation is clearly becoming a major book & I'm DELIGHTED by the debate it's sparked. This is why I wrote it. People deserve to know the truth about what is happening in their own country. I also find myself in the curious position of watching Suicide of a Nation be criticised by people on both the Left, many of whom have clearly not read it, & people further to my Right, who oppose my support for Reform. I will deal with all this together. 1. Research, stats & evidence All the research, stats, data come from the official 2021 UK census data. The projections are calibrated to the 2022 Office for National Statistics national population projections, ensuring consistency with national trends. I believe this is the most systematic, sophisticated look at the demographic revolution unfolding in Britain that we have to date. To be clear, Suicide of a Nation is also a trade book, intended for a mass audience. It is not like books written by academics that are typically only read by a few dozen or a few hundred people. It is designed to reach tens of thousands, which it is now doing, to try and help shift the Overton Window. If you want all the detailed assumptions, analysis, & modelling behind the book you can read them here: shorturl.at/d3Hg8 Or if you want to look at the key trends in more detail you can see them in our Substack this morning: shorturl.at/LLBeS 2. Substack, links, and footnotes Trade books by their nature have minimal footnotes. The aim is to inspire a mass readership. Having spent 20 years in the universities, I wanted to write a trade book. Hence the lack of footnotes. If you want the data detail on the trends see the paper above. I do link to several of my Substack articles because, as it happens, with the exception of David Coleman, I am one of the only people who has run demographic projections at this level. You can read it here: shorturl.at/Gij6S. Ditto my discussion in the book of Muslim attitudes, Reform voters, and the economic costs of net migration. Nobody else is writing about these issues as we are at mattgoodwin.org hence me citing those pieces. I see no problem with this. I am proud of our work. Academics cite their own work all the time. It just so happens this time around they disagree with my work! 3. AI school census data Footnote 8 includes a reference to school and nursery data via AI which was then cross-checked with the real dataset (available here: shorturl.at/KlFVm. I see no issue obtaining datasets via AI so long as they are cross-checked with the original source (above). Hence why I include the reference. This school census data shows, clearly, nearly 1 in 4 primary pupils & nearly 1 in 3 nursery pupils no longer speak English as their main language. I attach the screenshot. In Bradford, the example, nearly 40% of state primary children do not speak English as their main language (see screenshot). In some primary schools in Bradford, 98% of pupils speak 'English as an additional language'. Nationally, as I talk about in the book, and as GB News revealed last year, there are now 2,000 schools where English is no longer the main language for most pupils In 2 primary schools, not a single child has English as their native tongue. In 107 schools, 9 in 10 pupils do not speak English at home. In 2,309 schools in England, English is no longer the first language. And across the country, 1.8 million children, 1 in 5, do not speak English as their main language (see here shorturl.at/KXROf) It is also now fact, as I say in the book, to have schools in the Midlands with more than 30 languages spoken: shorturl.at/OfyNj I notice my critics ignore all these statistics, as well as the obvious problems this creates in the classroom, for example -> shorturl.at/6TJYz The left-wing claim that this does not create problems is ludicrous. Research by scholars such as Strand and Hessel finds that pupils who speak English as an additional (not main) language explains 22% of the variation in their educational achievement, compared to 3-4% that is statistically explained by things like gender or free school meals (as a measure of poverty). So, unlike the Left, I think this is a major problem and I make no apology for saying so. We should have a shared language. Bilingualism undermines our shared culture & nation. Mass immigration is weakening our educational system. 4. Solutions and prognosis Some argue the book offers no solution. I disagree. I am clear throughout. End mass migration. Exit the ECHR. Repeal the HRA. End welfare & social housing subsidies for non-Brits. End two-tier multiculturalism. Crack down on Islamism. Invest in Pro-family policies. Deport illegal migrants, foreign criminals & those who do not make a net fiscal contribution to the UK economy. Reassert our free speech. Scrap definitions of 'Islamophobia'. Abolish non-crime hate incidents. Where I depart from critics further to my Right is in opposing vague and ill-defined talk about "mass deportations" or "remigration", which often appear to mean "deport anybody who isn't White", or "deport British nationals". I reject this - politically, morally, ethically. I simply do not think it is right, possible, politically appealing to an election-winning majority, or in tune with our political culture. I also do not think the Americans cheering on other parties understand the nuances in our political culture. 5. Intellectual lineage. The book implicitly nods, throughout, to the work of Roger Scruton, Eric Kaufmann, Anthony Smith, Walker Connor, Douglas Murray (subtitle), all of whom have warned through speeches, podcasts, e-mails, and articles about the loss of a historic majority group. This is deliberate. Left-wingers who argue, for example, that Smith or Connor did not warn about the loss of a historic core are simply not reading their work, or being disingenuous. The title of the book is a specific nod to Arthur Koestler's Suicide of a Nation, a left-wing account of Britain's decline in the postwar era. My book, in contrast, is obviously a national conservative/right-wing take on Britain's decline. Sometimes, you don't need to state your influences because they are so obvious - at least to people who read books. 6. Publishing in 2026 Some people have asked why I did not publish with a mainstream publisher given my past books were with Penguin, Oxford, Cambridge, Routledge, etc., and I wrote two Sunday Times bestsellers (now three?) The answer is because I believe the publishers have been ideologically captured and no longer allow genuine free speech and debate. Having gone through mainstream publishers, I know for a fact this book would never have been published or would have been edited and diluted to the point at which it says nothing interesting or truthful at all. Anybody who is a serious author, who has gone through the editorial process, knows this to be true. The reality, in 2026, is if you have a profile and a large Substack you no longer need mainstream publishers. You no longer need to be controlled by Gatekeepers. This is a positive development. And in many respects I hope that given it's obvious success (top 5 on Amazon) Suicide of a Nation will encourage others to break with establishment publishing. This is what we need to do if we are serious about taking on the institutions. Lastly, my thanks to the left-wing trolls and resentful, bitter, unsuccessful former academic colleagues who are coordinating an attack on the Amazon Reviews page. They are helping drive the algorithm, ensuring this book receives the attention it deserves and is read by many, many more people. I thank you for this. Best wishes, Matt p.s. buy the book below or via Waterstones, Blackwell's, Foyles, etc (Amazon is now regularly running out such is the demand) amazon.co.uk/Suicide-Nationโ€ฆ
