Hot off the biorxiv press! 🔥 @SamuelLaraR finds GBP5 enhances macrophage glycolysis via glucose uptake, GTPase activity dependent and as being cis-Golgi localised. Bonus finding, GBP5 is important for full M1 macrophage functionality.

Check out this new paper by @avi_cmbi lab - GBP1 can detect extracellular bacteria from the inside of cells! 😎 LPS solubilisation, Toxoplasma vacuole disruption and now immunity through actin binding - what a superpower protein! 😬 Happy to have supported this project!

Also now shouting into the void a second time, after I finally found the headspace to delve into this report properly (now the draft has finally arrived), only to see it has Alexander's age wrong. I just despair. Over and over again.

I just have to shout into the void that patient safety incident investigations are so additionally traumatic for families who've already been through the worst. I'm so drained with being promised reports that don't arrive-and communication about their absence I have to instigate.

V is for voyage. After Alexander died, I promised him that I'd stop making excuses about things I wanted to do. So I booked a trip to Australia for him. Isabelle was the dream travel companion.She loved it.I'm so glad I didn't know what was to come & just savoured every second.💕

The day that Isabelle got Alexander's train out to play. I knew they would be connected somehow, even though they never met. He knew she was coming and that she was a girl. Now I hope she's playing with him, too. #grief #childloss
