@FromOneLine Esperaron pacientemente Mientras pasaban las horas de oscuridad. Con expectativa y esperanza, Seguro que vuelve el sol. Miraban hacia arriba a los cielos, Y cantaban canciones de alabanza. -Profe Steve

They waited patiently. Not for me. Not really. Just for the noise to stop, for the last excuse to dry out. I gave them silence and the truth I’d been avoiding. #FromOneLine @FromOneLine No. 412

#FromOneLine #poetrylovers #poetry #amwrting I used to be good at remembering things the nuances, the tiniest, the most neglected details but half a century living taught me to forget many things not for they don't carry significance but for the sake of my own sanity

I used to be good at remembering things, the way you took your tea, which step creaked, where the light settled in the afternoon. Now it’s mostly the leaving I can’t seem to forget. A scent of your hair. A smile when you looked at me. #FromOneLine No. 411

#FromOneLine "I used to be good at remembering things" Strategic Forgetting I used to be good at remembering things — every damn anniversary, every grocery list down to the jar of Nutella, the exact pitch of your sigh when I forgot something. Now I’m good at forgetting. “Did you remember to take out the garbage? Tomorrow is garbage day.” Sorry babe, total blank. Must’ve slipped out with the trash. I forgot the milk again — now it’s yogurt, vanilla bean. I forgot whose turn it was to load the dishwasher, so I just stared at it like modern art. I forgot we had that fight last Tuesday about the thermostat. What fight? Exactly. I used to keep score like it was the damn Super Bowl. Now the scoreboard’s permanently on the fritz. I forget the passive-aggressive note you left on the fridge in 2022. I forget the way you side-eyed my “creative” parking job. I forget to remember why I was supposed to be mad. Strategic forgetting is basically marriage cheat code. No reloads, no extra lives needed — just hit “erase” and suddenly the house is peaceful and you’re laughing instead of plotting my demise. Some nights I lie there pretending to sleep while you whisper, “You forgot on purpose, didn’t you?” I grin in the dark. Guilty as charged. Because the important stuff? That I still remember crystal clear. The way you steal the blankets like a professional thief, how you say my name when you’re trying not to laugh, that one time we burned dinner and ordered Pizza Pizza instead. The way your hand fits in mine. Everything else? Officially “misplaced” for the greater good. For us. And for my survival. #EricJPoetry #PoetryCommunity #FreeVerse

#vss365 #bank #FromOneLine I used to be good at remembering, things organized like a utensil drawer, each rising from stacks, but smth shook & slammed it shut, shattering dividers…After shuffling & slicing fingertips, things slip off like Band-Aids, banking on strangers’ shoes.

I used to be good at remembering things! But now my mind is like a foggy mizzle but some will dismember things. That I do know plus my cosmic fixation.. ..is very consistent; it's not the thought that keeps changing. #FromOneLine, #WeirdMicro, #firewords280, #FairyTalePoets

NOIR ON THE VINE: Prose and Poetry
#BraveWrite & #FromOneLine N.411 Can’t say “I used to be good at remembering things,” just words as they thundered out of our mouths. All those bright butterflies in the rain and death's moths seeking lightning. But we were the eye of a storm once. Weren’t we? ▪️▪️▪️
