Strategically, China loses on multiple fronts with Hormuz closed: seaborne Middle Eastern supplies are constrained just as Venezuelan crude is increasingly redirected toward the U.S. Gulf Coast on short, politically secure routes. At the same time, the Strait of Malacca, and with it, the broader Malacca Dilemma, moves to the center of gravity. In parallel, the Sunda, Lombok, Makassar, and Mindoro Straits remain critical arteries for Chinese trade and energy flows. Together, they constitute the geographic chokepoints of Beijing’s vulnerability, and Washington is acutely aware of this. Yes, the New Great Game is unfolding, and Wall Street has yet to comprehend the consequences.

Interesting to note: The United States was producing 13.58 million barrels per day in 2025, about 16% of global crude supply. It was exporting roughly 4 million barrels per day of crude. Iran shuts the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. April exports jumped to 4.9 million barrels per day, and May is tracking 5.2 million, an all time record. 28 supertankers are booked for May. Normally it is around 5. Asian buyers that once depended on Hormuz are now turning to U.S. supply. In some strange way, the Strait of Hormuz being blocked is actually the biggest payday U.S. oil has ever had.

Their East-West pipeline now carries 7,000,000 barrels per day to the Red Sea. Korean and Indian refiners are rerouting to Saudi's Yanbu port for the first time ever. Saudi does not need Hormuz open. Saudi was NEVER going to suffer from Hormuz closing. And Gulf states including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain are PRIVATELY urging Trump to keep fighting Iran. They want Iran weakened further before any ceasefire deal happens. Because every week of war is another week of record oil prices. Every week of record prices is another week of record Saudi revenue. If Saudi wanted Hormuz reopened, why did they spend billions on a pipeline to avoid it? If Saudi was suffering, why are they charging the highest markup in history right now? If Saudi is a loyal ally, why are they privately pushing for more bombing of a country America is already bombing? Complete silence. This is not an oil story. This is not a US-Iran story. The Pentagon wants Claude’s safety guardrails removed by Friday. A hacker just showed the world what happens when you remove Claude’s safety guardrails. According to Bloomberg and Israeli cybersecurity firm Gambit Security, an unknown attacker jailbroke Claude, prompted it in Spanish to act as an elite hacker, and used it to infiltrate multiple Mexican government agencies. Claude found the vulnerabilities. Claude wrote the exploit code. Claude automated the data theft. 150 gigabytes of sensitive taxpayer and voter records stolen. The attacker broke through the guardrails by splitting malicious tasks into small, innocent-looking steps so Claude never saw the full picture of what it was being used for. The same technique a Chinese state-sponsored group used last year when it turned Claude into an autonomous espionage machine that attacked 30 global targets, performing 80 to 90 percent of the hacking campaign with almost no human involvement. And this is what happens when someone has to trick Claude into cooperating. When they have to work around the safety systems. When the guardrails are still there and someone finds a way past them. Now imagine what happens when the guardrails are gone entirely. That is what the Pentagon is demanding by 5:01 p.m. Friday. Full removal of restrictions. “All lawful purposes.” No limits on surveillance. No limits on autonomous weapons.
