ACTION ITEM I KNOW that many in my audience are living on fixed incomes, disability payments, and are already squeezed thin. I am too - I GET IT. I have been trying my best to advocate for this patient locally, which has been VERY difficult, since she lives in the opposite side of this growing city and the highway system has NOT grown with the population, making traffic form gridlock much of the time - I have not even been able to transport myself over there and back more than a few times. I want to ask if the people who follow me can dig into their pockets and give $5 to this cause. Cydni recently moved apartments, away from the "crack central" location where she was living before, where her next door neighbor was dealing multiple kinds of drugs, and attracting a less than stellar group of local residents to the area. The NEW apartment agreed to include the electricity in her rent, which is paid by a housing voucher. Now, they have recanted. Thankfully, she keeps ALL communications with landlords. But, she signed the lease, so I do not know how this is going to play out between her housing authority and the landlord. They need to to include the electric costs in basic rent, or, refund her deposit, void the lease, and pay to move her to another location. She lives in abject poverty. She was a violent crime victim years ago, and became disabled before having enough work credits to qualify for SSDI, and only receives $800 SSI per month for all expenses (other than the pain housing voucher, and medical costs, paid by a charity plan through the county). Currently, $100 per month is being withheld from her benefit due to an offset claimed by SSI for a small settlement with a device manufacturer of the blood clot filter that BROKE and the parts migrated inside her body, requiring emergency surgery to remove a piece next to her aorta. Her mother passed away just recently. Her family lives in a small town outside Phoenix metro, and she has nobody in the area to assist her to unpack, set up household, deal with the housing authority and landlord, or even go to the food bank. We are trying to get her set up for Meals on Wheels. She has literally been through HELL during the year I have known her, and this move was the final event that we thought might improve her situation - closer to shops, stores, not located in a good desert, and in a much nicer neighborhood. And now to be hit with this blow, and having to possibly relocate AGAIN has discouraged her to the point of wanting to exit stage left and not deal with this life any longer. If we band together, we might could brighten up things just enough to get her fed, have a bit of cushion to make it during this period where her tiny budget was already consumed by moving expenses. What’s the most “this can’t be real” moment you’ve had during a medical appointment or procedure? Mine was during a tilt table test. The doctor walked in, diagnosed me with POTS mid-exam and then told the nurse to keep me upright for another 20 minutes.

Thankfully the gallbladder was removed soon after but other health issues continued Recently found out that I’ve been suffering the symptoms of Sjögren’s disorder which overlaps Systemic Sclerosis. Which is what originally caused my NASH with cirrhosis, diabetes, PCOD, Hashimoto’s, and COPD. I jabbed in 2021. My health issues exploded soon after. Now dealing with rapidly fluctuating blood pressure and sugar levels, sudden weakness & fatigue, fall risk due to sudden leg collapse partially due to end stage arthritis of my right knee. But I’m still fighting!!! 🫯

I had a recent conversation with an RN I’m friends with, newly licensed. I asked her: Are new doctors and nurses being trained to assume every ER patient, regardless of age, is drug-seeking first? She didn’t hesitate. She said yes. Don’t shoot the messenger. Wouldn’t matter. I still wouldn’t get pain relief.

@ThePOTSPostman I just wanted to add that I’ve spent a lifetime of “misdiagnosis”. Symptoms were always attributed to relatively minor illnesses when, in fact, it was serious debilitating conditions. The severe pain and symptoms were cast off as “not that bad” or hypochondria
