🎉 Update: Lexi is now safe! ❤️🐶 Just a few days ago, she was on the euthanasia list and extremely scared in her kennel. Today, she has been given a second chance at life. 🙏 After meeting her up close, Lexi turned out to be incredibly loving and did well with other dogs too. Every animal deserves a chance, and Lexi finally got hers. ❤️

Chihuahua goes back for its bedtime buddy. A family in Tulsa, Oklahoma thought they had given a tiny Chihuahua the home he had been waiting for, but three nights in a row, he somehow slipped out in the middle of the night and ended up right back outside the same shelter he had just left. At first, they thought maybe he did not want to be adopted. Maybe he missed the only place he knew. So on the third night, instead of taking him straight home, they brought him inside and asked the shelter workers to open the door just to see where he would go. But the Chihuahua did not run to his old cage. He ran straight to another kennel, where a bigger dog was waiting on the other side of the bars. That is when an employee told them the two dogs had been best friends at the shelter. Their kennels were across from each other, and every night they would lie down facing one another, falling asleep while staring across the aisle. The little Chihuahua had not been running away from his new home.He was going back for the friend who helped him get through the hardest nights. After hearing the story, the family adopted the bigger dog too. Now the two dogs finally sleep beside each other in the same home, instead of across from each other through shelter bars.

I am over 90 years old, and today I adopted a dog named Benson. His previous family abandoned him because he was 14 years old. His old owner suggested euthanasia, but the shelter staff refused, stating that he was healthy enough and they kept him. People and my family kept telling me that adopting a dog at my age wouldn’t be a good idea and that I wouldn't be able to take care of him. When I heard Benson's story, I went to adopt him. As soon as I approached him, he laid his head on my chest as if he knew me from before. Now he is with me, sleeps beside me, and during the winters, he wears a little sweater. People tell me that I gave him a new life, but the truth is that Benson has brought so much peace to my life. We both share peaceful moments together every day.

He neither saw people nor barked, nor did he walk around the kennel. He usually sat at one place with his face resting on his paws, looking sad. People would approach the 8-month-old puppy, who attracted them with his antics. He made odd sounds, barked, and played, while on the side, an 11-year-old Labrador named Barnaby would simply take a deep breath and close his eyes. The shelter worker would tell people not to pay attention to him as he just kept sleeping and had been there for 400 days. 400 days. Over a year. People ignored him because he was old, slow, and boring. Then one day, a father came to the shelter with his family. Initially, he started looking at the puppies, but then his gaze fell upon Barnaby. The father said, "We don’t want a puppy. We want this one." The worker was surprised, saying he sleeps a lot. The father laughed and said, "I think he’s perfect." Today, Barnaby left the shelter, took one last look back, then exhaled softly, looked at his new owner, and wagged his tail.
