Both sides don't want to say the words " we are a nation of White European immigrants " because the the DomSoc guys know that this sounds explicitly racist and the other side are afraid of the consequences for acknowledging this reality.
Wyatt Claypool@wyatt_claypool

The DomSoc guys are crashing out over Pierre Poilievre calling Canada a "nation of immigrants" which apparently is not allowed to be said even thought Pierre Poilievre want to reduce immigration even more than Carney already has. DomSoc is insufferable.

Quebec is the most conservative province in the country properly understood. Too few people understand this because they think exclusively in economic terms.

It's the new performative edgy position to claim Classical Liberalism is somehow bad. Apparently Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, John Diefenbaker, Margaret Thatcher, etc, are all a bunch of Classical Liberal sellout hacks! I would only propose we change the name to "Classical Conservative" since Liberal/Labour parties have done a lot to ruin the word "Liberal" and turn it into it's big government Modern Liberal form. Which is ironic since I find the edgy New Right™ guys have a lot in common with Modern Liberals view of the role of government.

Culture Immigration Academia These are the three pillars to the Left’s political success, and each of them has to be recaptured or restructured in order to tear up the post-60s order, root and stem. Without them, the Left as we know it wouldn’t even exist.

Really quite something to hear the Republican Governor of Texas promise his state to Indians like it’s their manifest destiny or something. “Texas will always be a land for the Indian community.” Insane.

The Tea Party is a lesson for zoomer idiots who whine about Trump and want to petulantly sit out elections. The Tea Party is the only thing that saved the Republican Party from going to the left. 2006-2009 was an extremely dark time for the right. The Democrats won back Congress in 2006 for the first time in 12 years. They then won the largest majorities they'd had since the 70s in 2008, along with Obama winning the largest majority since the 90s. The Democrats then scammed their way to a filibuster-proof majority in 2009 after stealing an election in Minnesota and Arlen Specter switched parties. The conventional wisdom was that the Democrats would be in power for a generation, like they were when FDR was elected, and the Republicans would be reduced to a regional party of the South. The GOP's instinctual response was to go LEFT, not right. The 2008 presidential nominee was John "Invade the World, Invite the World" McCain, a candidate so odious that I could not vote for him despite my disgust with Obama (I voted Libertarian). The RNC doubled down after McCain got taken to the woodshed and elected Michael Steele as chair for literally no other reason than because he was black. Steele's genius maneuver was to give the GOP a "hip-hop" makeover, which was so embarrassing it was parodied on the DAILY SHOW as "Reagraham Lincool." A real low point was Joseph Cao. Cao was a RINO who unexpectedly won a black-majority House seat in New Orleans after the incumbent Democrat was caught with $100,000 in his freezer (among other cartoonishly corrupt actions). There was no way Cao was going to get reelected, but that didn't stop John "Town Crier" Boehner from proclaiming him the "future" of the party. Everyone complaining about Byron Donalds or Vivek Ramasmarmy, it was worse 20 years ago. It was so much worse. The Tea Party changed all that through grassroots protests and organizing. They didn't sit in their barcaloungers on Election Day whining that the Republicans wouldn't listen to them. They MADE the GOP listen. They ran their own candidates, defeating high-profile Republicans in primaries. They took over the party at the local level. They marshaled the power of the Internet and right-wing media to get their message out. And they won. The first sign that the wind had changed direction was when a Republican was elected to finish off the Senate term of the late Ted Kennedy. Then in 2010, the landslide came. The Democrats' historic majority in the House that they had accumulated over two cycles? Wiped out. Their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate? Gone. Their gains in gubernatorial and state legislative elections? Erased like they never happened. The Republicans even won Obama's old Senate seat in Illinois, and would have won Biden's old seat in Delaware had they not run a complete lunatic. The Tea Party was such a force that they held the House in 2012, despite a terrible presidential candidate in Mitt Romney and a series of high-profile nutjobs losing layup Senate seats in states like Indiana and Missouri. Their organizational prowess eventually evolved into MAGA and is the entire reason you have President Trump to even petulantly whine about in the first place. I still remember Michael Steele being interviewed on one of the cable news networks (I want to say CNN) the night of the 2010 election. He was sitting around like a complete doofus in total befuddlement that the Republicans were winning everything. He was the most useless dildo to ever chair the GOP and was turfed out months later. Those successes were due to the Tea Party, not Republican leadership, who thought the path to victory was to out-left the left. Anyone telling you that you have to sit out elections or vote Democrat to "punish" the GOP is lying to you. Anyone who claims there's "no difference between left and right" is a saboteur. The Tea Party didn't buy any of this. That's how they won.

Something that needs more light is the Tea Party Movement and what it was like prior to Trump. I watched this movie as a kid and grew up on Rush Limbaugh and having that foundation of cradle conservatism helps you appreciate just how much things have completely changed.

California has a "top two" primary system, where the Republicans were arguably slated to lock out the Democrats of the governorship altogether, until this post. My guess is (a) Trump doesn't know this or (b) his advisors failed to understand this, regardless--not ideal. Also, it would have made more sense for Trump to endorse the candidate he didn't want to win, after the primary, given the fact that most voters in the general will be Dems.

Interesting. Its too early to draw real conclusions but broadly I think it makes sense that he won't be broadly popular with his platform. However, he might be popular enough to get 12 seats.

Poilievre says we had "the most successful immigration system" for 200 years until 2021. The truth is we had a "tap-on, tap-off" policy, ended in 1990 by Mulroney. Ever since, LPC and CPC imposed mass immigration. In 2021, the elite raised levels too fast and blew their cover.

If you’re on the Right, ask yourself, would you be able to get a job in Hollywood, Academia, or the Media if the existing powers that be within these institutions read off a dozen tweets from your X account? If the answer is “No”, then there has not yet been a true circulation of the elites.

Oh boy. Today I learned we pay $750m a year for a State Department program called “EducationUSA” that operates in 175 countries to recruit foreigners to apply to American universities like Princeton where they then come here, get so much money in scholarships thrown at them that they owe some tax (in this article it’s $15k) which they decide to not pay back! Princeton tried to help the Chilean guy in the article by loaning him money to pay his tax bill but rather than pay it back he just moved to another country and is now whining in the New York Times about it! Enjoy that while you file your taxes this year! Yes this was a spot at Princeton that your kid from Iowa didn’t get.
