Texas likes to do things in a big way! And that includes improving safety of rail crossings. Thanks to a bill signed last year, the Texas Transportation Commission awarded $160.5 million in grants for five grade-separation projects in the state, three of which are on BNSF’s network. The state’s rail fund was set up to provide relief from train-occupied crossings to motorists, as well as to ensure safer highways. The BNSF projects are in Randall County and Potter County, both near Amarillo, as well as one in Houston. The work will involve separating the road from the rails by creating overpasses. The new funding is significantly higher than previous yearly federal grants. That’s big – just like the Lone Star state.

It’s a big day in Gunter, Texas! BNSF and the City of Gunter celebrated the groundbreaking for our new Logistics Center North Dallas this morning. Gunter Mayor Karen Souther, Grayson County Judge Bruce Dawsey, community leaders and public-private partners attended to mark the beginning of construction. The center will be a 944-acre multi-customer, multi-commodity industrial park, an hour north of Dallas near State Highway 289. Logistics Center North Dallas will provide direct rail service to support economic growth and expanded supply chain access across North Texas, creating quality jobs while reducing traffic congestion and emissions in the area. For customers, the facility will create a speed-to-market advantage, helping save up to nine to 12 months of development time. There's no adequate way to express our gratitude to everyone who supported and participated in yesterday's #RailDay2026. But sincerely, thank you. Yesterday's #FreightRail contingent included such a depth and breadth of industry professionals -- from the smallest short line to large Class Is and all the suppliers, shippers and stakeholders in between. It was truly an impressive sight. We met with over 330 congressional offices about our industry's most pressing issues. It was no easy task, but with all of your help we made this event a success. And no matter what, we will strive to keep this momentum going for all those we proudly represent.
