Probably a good idea, but it's clear that 'results day' is going to be gone within a year or two & I can't help but feel sad about that. It's the most joyous, informal amazing celebration of 5 or 7 or 13-14 years work between teachers and students. The pics are always glorious.

Through our Plan for Change, we’re harnessing technology to bring exam results into the 21st century. Much easier for students, less paperwork for parents, less admin for teachers, and less costly for taxpayers. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@SGorard This is so interesting. I was looking into whether MATS are effective at turning around converter academies and really shocked at the lack of research- especially the assumption they do/ don’t is driving so much policy.

@TTRadioOfficial @SchoolsWeek This would make sense if directed time was actually time spent working… I don’t know any profession that does so much unpaid overtime or pays less attention to counting hours.

NEW via @SchoolsWeek - The boss of one of the country’s biggest academy trusts has suggested the 'archaic' directed time cap for teachers should be reviewed, saying 'if we want to be seen as a profession we can’t continue to rigidly count hours' schoolsweek.co.uk/trust-boss-tim…

@Janroweljmu We have 14 ECTs/ ITT needing 14 mentors, all needing reduced TTs and regular cover for training. It’s a lot…

Hearing from lots of ITE people that placements are a real struggle this year. Consequences of daft DfE ITE and ECT requirements coming home to roost. There are only so many teachers willing to mentor. And the additional mandatory training now required is putting teachers off.

A lot of teachers stuck in toxic schools. We need: 1. Publication of retention data spanning 5 years 2. Anonymised exit interviews available to job applicants 3. Forget OFSTED - secret supply teachers 4. More open conversations about toxic schools What is a toxic school? See below:

@MrsMFteach Get to know the admin staff as they will know how the school works. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice rather than trying to do it all yourself.

#TeamEnglish #UKEdChat I'm starting at a new school in September. It's my first and only school move in 10 years! ❓️What tips do you have for settling into a completely new school setting?❓️
