Forgot to add; all of this obv comes with strong rules and regulations around what co-streamers can and cannot do. I’m not advocating for a full Wild West scenario, it has to stay mutually beneficial for both parties for all of ^^ to work. ❤️

take all of this with a grain of salt❤️ (see disclosure at the end): I personally think the expanding of co-streaming has only slowed the viewership decline we see in esports, not sped it up. In marketing we talk about the player (or viewer) types. Some of these viewer types are better served by co-streamers. Many people enjoy the style of their co-streamer of choice over main broadcast and that’s ok. At the end of the day: they are still watching the sport. They are still becoming fans, and tuning in every week. They are still becoming fans of orgs, showing up to events, and are 100% still part of the community. To cut them out would dramatically cut the community for esports. It’s also not only an esports problem here. The rise of watching react content only vs watching the source material first is rising across Gen Z/alpha content trends. It’s not a trend dying down anytime soon, so catering to that trend is helping keep esports alive, and introducing it to new audiences. The rise of short form content is much more cannibalizing to esports broadcasts IMO. Long form content consumption is down in all industries, while short form rises. Co-streamers/Influencers are better equipped to capture those audiences at the moment, and therefore they are helping keep those viewers. All of ^^ is very positive for a business to invest in. It’s “free” advertising and content production. So if the issue is “co-streamers are taking revenue away from companies” my challenge of that would be: how much would you need to spend in staff to make content to capture those same audiences? What is keeping you from trying to get those same sponsor deals after you invest in that same content? But co-steaming rights still can be improved. I think the lack of diverse styles in co-streamers is a problem. IMO: we need more co-streamers not less, ideally of different types. Having all heavily analytical or ex pro co-streamers is hitting the same viewer type in many places. And that is causing the audience overlap issues that could be improved. Offering more slots to more “react” style or casual co-streamers is important to hit the vertical video/short form audience viewer. New faces help bring in new eyes. It’s not a perfect system, with a lot of risk on both sides. But it still needs improvement and experimentation. ❤️Ok Disclaimer time: ❤️ I’ve been at Riot coming up on 11 years. I’ve worked in Influencer work for most of that time. Ive also worked with esports broadcast teams for a good chunk of that. I was part of the first ever pitches internally to allow for co-streaming of our esports. Since then, I have been pushing for ways to expand co-streaming as safely as possible. Even so, these are just my personal thoughts, not the official “Riot Stance” on co-streaming. I know obviously very biased, and have these debates internally constantly, and I’m very open to being wrong. ❤️🤷‍♀️

@Riotswimbananas Beta tester here. I’ve always preferred the main broadcast over co-streams. Most just don’t bring the insight pro matches deserve. Solo queue content isn’t the same as real competitive experience. I’d watch actual pros co-streaming, not others. Nothing personal.

The reason why Riot is not gonna hard reset the ladder is because players are actively playing ranked. Why would they change something if players are gonna keep playing anyway? They removed Hextech chests, players stopped playing -> They revert the shit change. It's that simple.

@Vandiril They just slowly keep increasing players per team. Till it’s just an 8v8. I think it could be cool too. They could have smaller fights in between to win your team more gold, reroll or augments in 2v2s or 4v4s, to all come together into an 8v8 in the end.

After playing some 3v3 Arena I must say that playing 2v2 doesn't feel the same anymore... 3v3 just feels more fun and interactive.

@bonevoid For better example, instead of scrims 2 solid teams clash together in flex and ONLY THAT makes flex above soloq. But yet again, it's very rare occurance. So generally soloq>flex because good teams plays scrim rather than flex hence 10/100 games are good in flex.

@bonevoid 10/100 games are truly competitive in flex which frankly is above soloq in terms of game quality yet it's very rare to happen. All 10 of the players needs to be real challengers who totally understands the game and all the aspects thus making the game above soloq
