The Republic of Balochistan greets #GreeceIndependenceDay @GreeceNATO @GreekReporterr March 25, 1821 is widely regarded as the symbolic beginning of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire, a major historical turning point in southeastern Europe. On this day, Greek revolutionaries, inspired by nationalism and supported by secret societies like the Filiki Eteria, began uprisings against nearly 400 years of Ottoman rule. According to tradition, the revolution was proclaimed by Bishop Germanos of Patras at the Monastery of Agia Lavra, although historians debate the exact details of that event. The revolt quickly spread across the Peloponnese and other Greek regions, leading to a long and brutal war that lasted until 1830, when Greece was officially recognized as an independent state after intervention by European powers such as Britain, France, and Russia. Today, March 25 is celebrated as Greece’s Independence Day and is also a religious holiday, the Feast of the Annunciation in the Greek Orthodox Church.

🇬🇷 🇨🇾 Manolis Bikakis: The “Greek Rambo” of Cyprus Cretan paratrooper Manolis Bikakis earned the nickname “Greek Rambo” for his heroic stand during the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Separated from his unit near Nicosia, he fought alone for four days, destroying six Turkish tanks and halting their advance. Ignored in his lifetime, Bikakis was posthumously honored in 2015. His courage and sacrifice remain a lasting symbol of Greek heroism in Cyprus.

25η Μαρτίου 1955 - ΑΜΜΟΧΩΣΤΟΣ Ο Γρηγόρης Αυξεντίου φτάνει νωρίς το πρωί στο οίκημα της ΑΝΟΡΘΩΣIΣ στην Αμμόχωστο, μαζί με το Σωτηράκη Έλληνα, στενό του φίλο από την Ακανθού της Αμμοχώστου . Ήθελε να πάρει μια ιδέα από την οργανωτική δουλειά που έγινε στη νεολαία της πόλης, υπεύθυνος της οποίας ήταν ο αδελφικός του φίλος Αντώνης Παπαδόπουλος, λίγες μέρες πριν το μεγάλο ξεσηκωμό. Ο Γρηγόρης ειδοποιήθηκε από τον Αντώνη την προηγούμενη μέρα ότι οι μαθητές του Ελληνικού Γυμνασίου Αμμοχώστου (ΕΓΑ) θα παραβίαζαν το κυβερνητικό διάταγμα των Άγγλων για απαγόρευση της παρέλασης για την εθνική επέτειο. Οι μαθητές του ΕΓΑ , αφού έκαναν την έπαρση της σημαίας στο ΓΣΕ, ξεκίνησαν για την οδό Ερμού όπου στεγαζόταν η ΑΝΟΡΘΩΣΗ. Ο Αντώνης Παπαδόπουλος , φτάνει και αυτός στο οίκημα και μαζί με το Γρηγόρη και το Σωτηράκη ανεβαίνουν στον εξώστη της ΑΝΟΡΘΩΣIΣ Αμμοχώστου. Σε λίγο ακούγονται οι σάλπιγγες και τα τύμπανα.Οι Βαρωσιώτες αγουροξυπνημένοι βγαίνουν στα μπαλκόνια και χειροκροτούν τους μαθητές που παρελαύνουν αψηφώντας το διάταγμα και τους κινδύνους. Και όταν η περήφανη μαθητιώσα νεολαία περνούσε κάτω από τον εξώστη της ΑΝΟΡΘΩΣΗΣ , συγκινημένος ο Αυξεντίου άρχισε να χειροκροτεί και να λέει :'' Άιντε ρε νεολαία να δω αν θα σταθείτε έτσι τζιαι στον αγώνα !'' Στήριζε πολλά στη νεολαία ο Γρηγόρης . Και αυτή με τη σειρά της δεν τον απογοήτευσε. Γιατί εκείνη τη μέρα στη παρέλαση έλαβαν μέρος οι Ηλίας Παπακυριακού, Πετράκης Γιάλλουρος, Παναγιώτης Τουμάζος. Παιδιά δικά μας, που αργότερα έπεσαν στο πεδίο της μάχης. Παιδιά που ο Αυξεντίου θα έχει για πάντα μαζί του στο πάνθεο των ηρώων. 🇬🇷As Greece approaches its Independence Day on March 25, let us remember that in 1821 the Greek Revolution ignited a relentless struggle that would ultimately dismantle Ottoman rule across Europe. From the defiant uprising at Agia Lavra, through the heroic sacrifices of the War of Independence (1821–1829) that formed the modern Greek state, Greece pressed onward: liberating Thessaly in 1881, then decisively dominating the Balkan Wars of 1912–1913 by liberating Thessaloniki, most of Macedonia, Crete, and the Aegean islands while the Greek navy crippled Ottoman supply lines. These Greek triumphs, as the driving force of the Balkan League, expelled the Ottomans from nearly all their European territories in the 1913 Treaty of London, reducing a vast empire to the diminished rump state that became modern Turkey after 1923. Greece was not a mere participant-it was the decisive catalyst that liberated the Balkans and redrew Europe’s map in the name of freedom.
