Not the Jet, Not the Engine: Israel Says Turkey's F-35 Door Stays Shut Analyst Andreas Mountzouroulias told ART TV that Erdogan expected far more tangible results from his Trump contacts, so far Ankara has secured only political assurances, not concrete decisions. Referring to Donald Trump's statements, Muntzouroulias stressed that, while he initially appeared very positive towards Turkey, he subsequently adopted a more cautious stance, stating that the F-35 issue would be examined. This change, according to him, reflects the real difficulties facing any attempt to lift the restrictions. He linked Washington's posture directly to the massive Turkish Airlines-Boeing contract, arguing the US wants channels with Ankara open mainly to lock in that economic deal. Citing Israeli sources, he said the prevailing assessment in Israel is that despite public statements and diplomatic openings, Turkey will struggle to acquire not just the F-35 but critical subsystems like engines in the near term, keeping existing restrictions firmly in place. A Washington "legal wall," he added, blocks any president from simply reversing course on Turkey.

Independent Analyst Murat Baran USAL: (.@MBU_USAL) The Erdogan Family, the KRG Oil Trade, and Turkey's International Compensation Case… The independent export of oil by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) through Turkey has become one of the most significant international legal disputes involving Turkey in recent years. The Iraqi central government argued that Turkey violated the Kirkuk–Ceyhan Pipeline Agreement by allowing KRG oil to be exported through the Port of Ceyhan without Baghdad’s authorization. On that basis, Iraq initiated international arbitration proceedings against Turkey. In 2023, an arbitral tribunal under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) ruled that Turkey had breached its obligations under the pipeline agreement and ordered it to pay approximately US$1.47 billion in compensation. Turkey subsequently sought to have the award annulled in Paris. However, according to publicly available reports, the Paris Court of Appeal rejected Turkey's annulment request, removing a significant legal obstacle to the enforcement of the arbitral award. Beyond the legal proceedings themselves, another issue that has long been debated in Turkey concerns the companies involved in the KRG oil trade and the individuals who allegedly benefited financially from those transactions. According to documents and allegations made public by opposition parties, particularly the Republican People's Party (CHP), certain companies engaged in the KRG oil trade have been linked to members of the Erdogan family or individuals close to them. In this context, various commercial relationships, most notably those involving the company Powertrans, have repeatedly been brought into public debate. The opposition's central argument is that the decision making process that exposed Turkey to nearly US$1.5 billion in international liability, as well as the Erdoğan family and companies alleged to have benefited economically from the KRG oil trade, should be subject to an independent, transparent, and impartial investigation. The fundamental principle in a state governed by the rule of law is clear: decisions that expose a country to billions of dollars in international liability, as well as individuals or companies alleged to have profited from those decisions, should be examined under the same legal standards regardless of their political status. Where evidence establishes wrongdoing, responsibility should be determined through an independent judicial process.

Erdogan's son-in-law wants a war to prove the value of the Kizilelma unmanned combat aircraft. Selcuk Bayraktar says autonomous combat drones need a war to prove themselves Erdogan's son-in-law and Baykar chief Selcuk Bayraktar told a visiting NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation in Istanbul that autonomous combat drones will only gain broad acceptance once proven in real war. "It will come once the capacities demonstrated in a war... we're probably going to demonstrate it to the world," he said. He predicted unmanned jets could replace most of the world's 15,000 fighter jets within 30 years, likening the shift to a computer beating chess champion Kasparov, and cited Baykar drones' record in Libya, Ukraine and Nagorno-Karabakh. ANALYSIS | Savvas Kalenteridis: Greece at a Critical Geopolitical Crossroads Greece faces a critical geopolitical crossroads, as ongoing tensions with Turkey, the enduring 1995 casus belli, and shifting NATO priorities continue to shape security dynamics in the Eastern Mediterranean. Kalenteridis argues that while Turkey has pursued a consistent, long-term strategy to expand its regional influence, Greece must strengthen its deterrence through military modernization, economic resilience, diplomacy, and strategic partnerships. He further stresses that Athens should condition any progress in Turkey-EU relations on the withdrawal of the casus belli threat, respect for international law, and an end to revisionist rhetoric. According to Kalenteridis, lasting security depends not only on military capability, but on a coherent national strategy capable of adapting to an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment.

Taken together, Erdogan’s recent gait irregularities, his visible need to lean heavily on the podium while speaking, and this particular moment, in which he appears to turn away while President Trump is still speaking, only to be physically redirected by Hakan Fidan, suggest a picture that is harder to dismiss as mere fatigue or routine exhaustion. The real issue here is not to fuel health gossip, but to ask what such scenes may mean for the actual functioning of power. In a system where the entire architecture of decision making has been concentrated in a single person, any visible sign of physical or cognitive weakening inevitably raises questions about how the regime is really operating. The key question, therefore, is not simply Erdogan’s health, nor even only what happens after Erdogan. It is who is making critical decisions while Erdogan is still formally in power. What this increasingly visible pattern suggests is the possibility that Erdogan is gradually shifting from being the active executive decision maker to becoming more of a symbolic front figure who confers legitimacy on decisions made elsewhere. Those decisions are still, of course, issued in the name of the “Erdogan government.” But moments like this make it more legitimate to ask whether the real center of gravity has been moving toward a narrower inner circle within the palace, the security bureaucracy, and especially figures such as Hakan Fidan along the foreign policy intelligence axis. In short, the issue is not simply that a leader is aging. The deeper issue is that, in a highly personalized regime, a leader’s visible weakening can begin to expose the growing gap between the formal seat of authority and the actual locus of decision making. A firm Hellenic "No" to Turkey, As Long As the Casus Belli Stands... Athens has sent a clear signal to Ankara: Greece will not consent to Turkish participation in the EU's SAFE defense program while Turkey's casus belli threat remains in force, senior diplomatic sources say. Let's state these properly: No decision on Turkish F-35 acquisition exists yet, and Washington has not begun certifying Turkey's break from Russia's S-400. Greek F-35 pilot training starts soon, backed by 50+ upgraded F-16 Vipers. Athens calls Turkey's "Blue Homeland" doctrine legally baseless, insists the only real dispute is shelf/EEZ delimitation, and says NATO's summit reaffirmed Greece as a reliable ally, with no Article 5 doubts raised. On Cyprus, Athens awaits UN moves with no timeline set. Libya talks are called productive, while the Iran-Gulf situation is deemed fragile. Israel ties are framed as a strategic asset. Athens' overall message is clear: vigilance without panic, diplomatic readiness without overreach, and full use of the institutional tools where Greece has a say. In the case of SAFE, that means, in practical terms, a firm Greek "no" to Turkey for as long as the casus belli remains in force. - Geopolitico Analysis

Mark Levin: "Would it be acceptable if Israel sold its own military technology to Russia? Wouldn't that outrage us? That would be a betrayal. So what do we call it when we sell our most advanced fighter jets to Turkey a country that maintains close ties with Russia and threatens Israel, as well as other allies? Alliances are a two-way street. That's how they're supposed to work. Some say Prime Minister Netanyahu should simply accept it and stay quiet. I disagree. This would fundamentally alter the balance of power in the Middle East. And how exactly do we prevent Turkey from sharing our stealth technology and other advanced capabilities with Russia? Paper assurances? Turkey already purchased the Russian S-400 air defense system, violated its obligations to NATO and the United States, and was sanctioned for it. Why should anyone believe this time will be different?"

🇬🇷 Nikos Dendias on F-35s: No to Turkey Without Guarantees Defence Minister Nikos Dendias said Greece would not accept Turkey's acquisition of F-35 fighter jets without clear guarantees that they would never be used against a fellow NATO ally. Speaking at the Economist conference, Dendias expressed Athens' concerns over the possibility of Turkey rejoining the F-35 program. Addressing the United States directly, he questioned whether supplying Ankara with F-35s and next-generation fighter engines without safeguards on their use would serve U.S. interests or contribute to stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Mitsotakis Counts on Legal Obstacles to Prevent Turkey from Acquiring F-35s PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking after the NATO Summit, said that Greek pilots will begin training in 2027 for Greece's own F-35 fighter jets, which are currently being produced. He also described Turkey's casus belli against Greece as a "historical anomaly." Mitsotakis further stated that European countries must assume a greater share of responsibility for their own defence, effectively echoing a long-standing U.S. demand. Source: @News247gr
