What is my business & why do I have it? After years of wrestling with this, I may have clarity: 1. To steward the gifts God gave me through coaching 2. To generate income to help support God's people – my family & tithing 3. To use the gym as a platform to point people toward God

Ralph Mann's view on youth training: "I frequently get emails from the parents of young athletes, asking my help or advice on how to help their offspring improve their performance. My answer is always the same. I suggest that everything they do for their child—from the coach that is selected, the workouts they run, the camps they experience, and the competitions they attend—the primary goal should be to “have fun and play lots of sports.” I am firmly against early, structured training for young athletes."

"The elite coach puts the science of performance at the top of the list, then addresses all other factors that will affect performance. The non-elite coach puts everything on the same level of importance." Ralph Mann

"since all young elite athletes are successful due to their enormous talent, few have developed excellent mechanics. Unless this is remedied, the athlete will eventually run into a wall, and their performance will stagnate." Ralph Mann

"The Empty Suit: Finally, there are coaches that let their egos dominate their coaching careers. They spend more time promoting themselves, writing low-level coaching books or posts, and building their internet support base than actually developing athletes. These are the only coaches in this list that are detrimental to the sport; they lead the gullible into believing that all they need is whatever they are blogging or selling this week to become an elite coach." Ralph Mann spit fire: "I can tell you that the elite coaches that I work with rarely—usually never—personally put anything coaching-related on social media. They spend most of their time with their athletes, or preparing for the next day, week, or month of development. Major presence on the web is primarily done by those that are selling something, trying to convince their followers that they are an elite-level coach, or looking for their next paid consultant job or presentation."
