@offthewalls2 i agree with all this. one thing I'm happy about it that they didn't erase joe's evilness. perhaps they even made him too evil, cause although i strongly dislike him, i do wonder when he started to change and if we will see him change in the second part (if they do part 2)

@offthewalls2 same. the flow was off. also I'm wondering why they've cut the scene of him going around visiting ppls houses as a Jehovah's witness. i thought they would go in depth about his faith and how it affected him. there was nothing about him being denied holidays because of it.

"Touching fans everywhere" Curious how they turn something as serious as abuse allegations into a cheap parody joke for promotion, and then expect people to believe they actually care about the accusers.

@offthewalls2 branca isn't some complex character so ofc he wouldn't care much about his performance. tbh most of the characters felt like npcs anyways - except colman, nia and young michael. everyone else was just kinda there. also the random af mike myers cameo threw me off.

all in all paris was right about some things, but it’ll do well, introduce a whole new audience to him… and maybe we’ll finally get victory in 4k

@HVST3RIA It's not a rating. It's just a percentage of the reviews that are negative or positive. 35% of the reviews were positive, 65% were negative. That doesn't mean the average score is a 35/100.

half way through the movie guys and I'm afraid they weren't lying about it being kinda shallow. it's definitely for the general audiences - but it doesn't offer anything that isn't known even by the most basic level fans. and there's too much john branca, as expected.

@HVST3RIA yh it was definitely noticeably shortened… lowkey i would’ve preferred one 3-hour film instead of two parts

@offthewalls2 i thought it was...not the best. like, we know he liked peter pan, but i cringed at the scene of him stroking peter pan's nose and then it cuts to him going to get a nose job 😭😭💀💀💀 what were they thinking honestly

@HVST3RIA He’s clearly not innocent. But given the parasocial relationships people have with celebrities I’m not surprised people just block out whatever makes liking that said celebrity easier.

The only way the media wouldn't have hate-bombed this movie if it portrayed MJ as guilty of child molestation. That's it. That's what they want, not simply a discussion of the allegations, not honesty and not truth. They just want THEIR version of MJ. #Michaelmovie

@trumanstories yeah, honestly the general audiences will enjoy it the most because superfans have expectations and haters have expectations - and neither group will have those expectations met. it was a decent biopic.

i haven’t seen it yet so forgive me if i’m wrong but i think that’s with all music biopics imo. i don’t think i walked out of elvis or bob dylan knowing any more than i did when i walked in. i think w a biopic, honesty is more important than depth maybe

@dmoefc the surface level insight into MJ's life is NOT the reason they reviewbombed the movie and you know it lmao let's use our brains here. it's a decent movie - but it certainly doesn't deserve such a low score. you'd be an idiot to say it does.

@HVST3RIA No, critics, based on their reviews, hated the same things you disliked. You still enjoyed the movie but you have the same complaints the critics do. You may have liked it more than most critics but clearly they weren’t wrong, you’re agreeing with their complaints.

this 100%. it's a good movie, it's surface-level MJ for the fans, but it's definitely the real him that the general audience doesn't know about - and that's what the critics hate. it shows you Michael as he is authentically, and not as how the media portrays him.
Justice for The Falsely Accused@JuliaBerkowitz1

Just watched the #Michaelmovie. Let me tell you: - It's not perfect, but the bad reviews are absolutely BS and agenda driven.
