Why this strike is so significant: ◾️ Primorsk port is Russia’s largest oil-loading port on the Baltic Sea. It is the terminal point of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) and plays a key role in exporting Urals crude. The port is a critically important piece of infrastructure, handling around 60 million tons of oil per year. ◾️ Primorsk is Russia’s "cash tap" on the Baltic Sea. Oil revenues help sustain the war against Ukraine and fund the killing of Ukrainians. Every day of downtime means millions of dollars in lost tax revenue for the Russian budget, which finances the army. ◾️ After such attacks, international insurance companies sharply increase premiums for tankers calling at Russian ports, making Russian oil less profitable. ◾️ Primorsk is the endpoint of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS). If the terminal cannot receive oil, there is nowhere for it to go: oil rigs in Siberia cannot simply be shut down without risking long-term damage. This forces Russian companies to cut production or urgently seek alternative routes. ◾️ To protect such large facilities, Russia has to redeploy scarce air defense systems (such as Pantsir and S-400) from the front deep into the rear (including Russia's Leningrad region). ◾️ Oil terminals rely on complex Western equipment (pumps, control systems, fire suppression systems). Due to sanctions, replacing damaged components is extremely difficult and costly. Repairs can take months, reducing overall export efficiency. Strikes on targets more than 1,000 km from the border demonstrate that there are no longer any safe zones for military or strategic infrastructure inside Russia. ◾️ The shadow fleet of tankers transporting Russian oil is becoming increasingly wary of operating in such areas, complicating Russia’s efforts to circumvent oil sanctions.

A drone attack has been reported on the oil port of Primorsk in Russia’s Leningrad region. A fuel storage tank was damaged. Primorsk is Russia’s largest oil port on the Baltic Sea and a key export hub. A significant share of the country’s oil shipments to foreign markets passes through it.

Russia has not reported its foot and mouth outbreak to the @WHO - as it is required to do. Instead is carries out secret mass herd slaughters - devastating farmers in rural communities. Why? Reporting the outbreak would immediately suspend all beef exports to India and Saudi Arabia (and others) - removing a vital revenue source for the war economy. Meanwhile surrounding neighbours have cottoned on to the hidden outbreak of the disease. Question is - when will the WHO ban all exports room Russia - including shipments en route?

UPDATE: Analysis of tower audio and map of the airport indicates the aircraft was showing a speed of 114kts or 131mph. JAZZ646 (yellow line) was cleared to land on Runway 4. Truck 1 & Company (green line) requested to cross RW 4 and was authorized to cross by the tower at taxiway D (red circle). Tower then attempts to call Truck 1 and tells them to stop multiple times. The silences and unrelated traffic has been trimmed from this audio, provided by @liveatc.

According to ADS-B data from @flightradar24 it appears the aircraft, C-NGJZ as JZA646/AC8646, collided with LaGuardia Airport Crash Truck 1, a 2003 Striker 1500 4x4 (similar truck pictured on right), at approximately 58kts or 66mph.

@wxdoc I agree. The “users” of the system are not getting the safety they pay for. This drives up costs and reduces revenue, so I hope they see it!

Hate to suggest this but to get Congress to react to this TSA & ATC issue is for the airlines to take action. The airlines need to start canceling or reducing flights. Keep the nonstops. Slow down the system.

So, ballots mailed by warfighters in the field have no explanation that their votes will count. That’s what this says. I’ve been an election officer for >20 years. The bill is deeply flawed because it started with the supposition that Trump must win, regardless of civil rights.

The Supreme Court on Monday will consider a Republican Party bid to prevent states from counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day even if they were postmarked on or before. abcnews.link/X3lOMDs

Confirmed what I suspected in a post last night. Thune reached a deal with Dems to fund DHS except for ICE and Trump rejected it. DONALD TRUMP is to blame for airport chaos - not Democrats.

@wxdoc I’ve been up in those towers. I’ve seen the system. I’ve listened to the radio traffic. I am very amazed it works now without it all being CAT III(b) w/ automated landings. There is way too much traffic. People don’t even think of cargo and private Landings/Takeoffs.

An initial impression listening to ATC audio — it would appear one controller was simultaneously working ground and directing aircraft (as evidenced by go-around instructions to Delta flight after accident). This raises serious concerns about staffing.
