Let's be real. The real reason that Britain is beginning to censor social media is because of things such as what police did to Henry Nowak. It was covered up by the media. But the truth came out on X. That's why they want to censor social media.

@SteveLovesAmmo Nobody studies "the plague." You study Yersinia pestis, the bacteria BEHIND the plague. Just as anthrax is endemic to European soil. Studying these isn't just normal. It's essential. We know what happens when it isn't understood. It's called the Black Death. But you dont care...

@SteveLovesAmmo The conspiracy wasn't "labs exist in Ukraine." It was that Donbas labs were MANUFACTURING BIOWEAPONS. Russia now controls the Donbas. Years have passed. Zero bioweapons found. Nobody got banned. The claim was just wrong. 👇

Today, EU bureaucrats admit that their energy policy was a mistake, their migration policy was a mistake, and their economic policy was a mistake... How soon will they realize that their policy on the war in Ukraine has also become a mistake?

@JRHart1ey @AdamMoczar Defamation, fraud, incitement, harassment ... all crimes whether typed or spoken. The UK enforcing them online doesn't make it Belarus. One arrests you for criticising the president. The other takes you to court for ruining someone's life via a post... bit different.

In 5 years we'll remember the people who opposed social media bans for kids the same way we remember parents who bought cigarettes for their children or took them to brothels. They will be remembered.

@Vince_Noir77 @policylaila But if the fear persists ... go ask Estonia. They've had Digital ID since 2002. Or the Netherlands with DigiD. Ask them how many times someone went "to town" on their citizens' credit because of it. Real world data beats hypothetical fear. I'll wait.

@Vince_Noir77 @policylaila Your passport is already at the Passport Office. Your license is at DVLA. Your card is at your bank AND every site you've ever shopped on. DigID doesn't combine them ... it just confirms you're a real adult. The centralisation you fear? It already happened. Years ago.

My 17-year-old daughter: “I’m confused. We’ve always been taught not to share personal information or anything that identifies us online because it isn’t safe. Now they want us to do exactly that to access social media.”

@zatzi It is far more beneficial than harmful. Kids will go back to play more sports and be more physically active, while preventing weirdos like you from grooming and touching our kids. Good as gold.

We are ruled by idiots. Do they not know every 15 year old revises GCSE’s on YouTube? Do they not know that teenagers track their friends are home safely on SnapChat? Do they not realise that - especially in rural areas with no transport - teenagers social lives are on… social media. Do they not know that teenagers will find ways round - as has been shown in Australia. This ban is illogical and damaging. If I hear another parent say “it’s so hard to police them” I’ll scream. It’s a parent’s job. Take responsibility the children you are meant to be bringing up. It is not the government’s job to look after your children. But the government will now insist all adults provide ID to prove we are over 18. 😡
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

🚨 SUMMARY: The UK's social media ban for children from early 2027: - "User-to-user" apps where people create, share and interact with content (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, X, Facebook) will be banned for under-16s - WhatsApp, Signal and YouTube Kids will be exempt - Under-16s will also be banned from livestreaming, messaging strangers on gaming apps like Discord and using disappearing messages - 16 and 17 year olds will face nightly social media curfews and limits on infinite scrolling with more details next month - AI "romantic companion" chatbots will be banned for under-18s - Adults can still access social media through age checks like facial recognition, digital IDs, passports and credit cards

@JimFergusonUK Worried Digital ID means instant state control? Tommy Robinson posts under his own name, constantly inciting to riots (enough to be jailed), and is still walking free. So what exactly is the fear? Accountability, or losing the fantasy that usernames are legal body armour?

🚨 THEY CAN'T CONTROL THE BORDERS. BUT THEY CAN CONTROL YOU. The government cannot stop the boats. Cannot stop the hotels filling up. Cannot stop the public anger. Cannot stop the protests spreading from city to city. But it can ban social media. Interesting. Because when governments begin losing control of events, they often become increasingly interested in controlling information. Millions of people are worried about immigration. Worried about crime. Worried about the future of the country. Yet instead of addressing the concerns driving that anger, the political class appears increasingly focused on regulating what people can see, hear and say online. The public is beginning to ask a simple question: Why is controlling access to information suddenly more urgent than controlling Britain's borders? That question is not going away. In fact, it is getting louder by the day.

You whipped your MPs to vote against a national inquiry into Pakistani rape gangs. Your government also placed unvetted men in hotels near schools. You don’t care about protecting children, this is a political move for digital ID.
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

We are banning social media access for under 16s. These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life. I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.

@ArchRose90 1st- Labour voted against a new inquiry (arguing it would be too slow for action), then launched one anyway after Casey's report. 2nd- 213 asylum hotels were a Tory policy. Labour inherited them. 3rd- "Digital ID plot" = Farage-level speculation, zero evidence.
