Last night, I had the opportunity to join a celebration of Lohri at Raj Khalsa Gurdwara in Sterling. Thanks to my friend, Nrip S. for the invitation and it was wonderful to see my good friend, Nupur Agarwal, of Anna Sudha Community Kitchen at Dulles Town Center. Please note that today is the deadline to pay the 2nd installment of your Loudoun Real Estate taxes. The Treasurer’s Office is aware of an issue affecting some online e-Check (ACH) payments. We are working with the County’s payment processor to resolve this as quickly as possible. If your e-Check payment is declined or not processed for any reason, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at 703-777-0280 (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). We will ensure that any penalty or interest related to this issue is abated. The issue with ACH payments is not impacting tax payments made by debit or credit card. Taxpayers who have a PayPal account linked to their bank account can make a “no fee” ACH payment using PayPal. Taxpayers should select the “Pay by PayPal” option when paying online and select to pay their taxes directly from their bank account. Thank you for your patience.

My office is proposing a reduction in the current late payment penalty decreasing it from a flat 10% (which seems excessive) to 2% for taxes paid no more than 30 days late and 10% for taxes paid more than 30 days late. loudounnow.com/news/eickelber… via @LoudounNow
