@BillSimmons Indy is the only team I give a full tank pass to. Never had a number 1 pick or player drafted 1st on their roster. Been so consistently good they haven’t had a top five pick since the 80s. Had the championship in their hands until a horrific injury. They deserve that pick.

@mcuban What if rookies had the option to either enter the draft or join their hometown team (if the team wanted them) Gives more hometown pride for fans, disincentivizes teams from tanking if they know a player like Flagg would just join the Celtics, etc.

Since tanking is getting everyone’s attention , back in the day, when we were winning 50 gms every year and never got a good pick here is what I floated “Make the draft more like free agency. Except the worst record gets the salary slotted to the first draft pick. The next worst record gets the next amount. Etc. Then the teams recruit players with their “rookie cap room “. The team with the worst record has the most money. But if their organization is terrible, the best players don’t like the coach, whatever, they can take less money and go to a different team. “ The second round stays the same. Got shot down. Quickly. Separately, I ALWAYS advocated for 4 rounds in the draft. One of the DUMBEST things that happens during the draft, particularly now with 2 ways , is that when the draft hits about 45, and players have fallen much further than expected, the phone lights up with calls from agents telling those with remaining picks NOT TO DRAFT their player. They would prefer to pick the team they want. Simultaneously, teams are trying to buy a pick or swap a future pick for one of the remaining picks. Then finally after @ShamsCharania tells us the 60th pick, every draft room goes into over drive and will spend HOURS trying to get players they like to fill out their summer league teams. The agents aren’t dumb. They will play team against each other for guaranteed money, a 2 way contract, playing time. It’s ridiculous. Look at it this way. There are 3 , 2 way contracts per team. You can use one on your second rd pick, if you have one, and you don’t have to offer it at all, but teams do because the know it makes the player and agent look good. But they also know they can waive the 2 way player at any time. So the promises fly Add two rounds and it’s fairer to players and people in the draft room can go home at a reasonable time 🤷🏼‍♂️

The state of Indiana passed a law banning rail transit. Indianapolis, a city of nearly one million people, cannot have trains as it's against the law.
