Further, many of the malls on this list without rail transit links — like Square One and Sherway here in the GTA — are essentially bus transit hubs.

Here’s a list from 2023. Of the top 12, only Square One, Laval, and Masonville have no connection to upper level transit. Notably, the country’s most famous mall, West Edmonton, doesn’t even make the list while across town, Southgate (with a transit rail connection) does.

A reminder that all the most successful shopping malls in Canada aren’t the ones with the largest parking lots: They’re the ones with the best connections to public transit.

“The very thing that’s exciting about solar energy — its abundance and low cost — also makes it of little interest to investors. Sun (and wind) are so freely available all around us that it’s hard to hoard them and make big profits from them.” thestar.com/opinion/contri…

I just had a smoothie that had a large chunk of plastic accidentally blended into it and I can’t wait until we eliminate single use plastics forever.

This has been one of the most extreme summers in my lifetime. We need all levels of government to protect people from climate change… while also moving swiftly to end oil, gas and other fossil fuels forever.

Together with allies we're getting the message to the ON gov: Heat is deadly and growing worse because of climate change. We have solutions to protect the health of seniors, children, workers, tenants, unhoused people and others at an increased risk ➡️ loom.ly/KGSSO-o

During heat events, more health effects, including deaths, happen indoors than outdoors. When indoor cooling was first invented, it was marketed as a luxury. That was over 120 years ago. With the changing climate, indoor cooling is no longer a luxury.

I’m at the Ontario Legislative building right now supporting a province-wide coalition calling on a series of measures to provide cooling in indoor spaces. While we cut emissions from sources like oil and gas, we need to protect everyone from extreme weather.

I spoke this morning with workers and business owners and transit riders calling on Toronto to join New York, London, Montreal and others and install hundreds of kilometers of transit priority lanes across Toronto.
Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA)@TOenviro

“These transit lanes are a win-win," says @HowSenChong from TEA. "They will move more people quickly to where they need to go, and help Toronto cut pollution and make important progress towards its climate goals." #topoli

TTC service on Dufferin and Bathurst consistently ranks among the slowest in the city. We are speaking up today with @ttcriders asking City Council to speed up the Dufferin bus & Bathurst streetcar/bus with priority lanes up to Eglinton. loom.ly/7jnxZmY

We need North-South rapid transit line in Etobicoke. My vote is up and down Kipling from Rexdale to the lake. It would connect Finch to the Eglinton line, the Kipling subway station, the Etobicoke North and Kipling GO stations, and the 501 streetcar.

Ontario's 2025 budget includes significant continued investment in transit. A welcome new addition to the government's transit map is the Sheppard (Line 4) West subway extension. Looking forward to @Metrolinx continuing planning for this critical transit project.

The reason why we have congestion is because (a) there are too many cars, and (b) there are too few safe, reliable ways to travel without one. The only way out is to limit where cars are allowed to go. Like we already do for buses and bikes

I just ran an errand that’s an 8 minute bike ride away. But because there are so many cars and no safe bike lane, I drove. By myself. In a car that seats five. The drive took me 12 minutes, not including all the extra time I took driving around the block looking for parking.

AI tools are useless garbage. How can the recycling rate be low if it ranges from 5% to 95% ?

Who should get priority? A few cars or 100s of transit riders? Ask Councillors to give transit the green light: ttcriders.ca/greenlight This video (taken yesterday at Leslie & Eglinton) shows an Eglinton Crosstown vehicle waiting at a red light while a few vehicles turn left.
