@Dave_DotNet I’m wondering if this is influenced by AI responses. I’m consistently told that .NET 10 is in preview. Even the C# Dev Kit on VS Code tells me to install .NET 8 because it is the LTS.

Moving your projects to .NET 9 or stay on .NET 8? I couldn't resist 🤣 #dotnet

I agree but I’m also concerned. What do we do about AIs giving horrible medical advice? They’ve done studies on how often Google’s AI response is the opposite of true. People will die from that bad advice. I know we are all responsible for our own actions, but our primary information source lies to us convincingly. I think there are limits that need to be placed on AI. I’m just not sure how to do that. At the least, I think certain results should require source links. But I’m not sure how we enforce that.

Stupid, selfish, and counterproductive. This reminds me of the dock workers that selfishly banned automation. Banning innovation is fruitless. Global innovation is unstoppable. You can only slow it down temporarily.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

A New York bill would ban AI from answering questions related to several licensed professions like medicine, law, dentistry, nursing, psychology, social work, engineering, and more. The companies would be liable if the chatbots give “substantive responses” in these areas.

@theleafdrinker Again, I’m not saying you have to love 1P. My focus is on the narrative that $4/month is too expensive for software you depend on daily. Pick the password manager that works best for you, but paying $50/year shouldn’t be seen as expensive.

Sorry for the self-promo but I just started a series on moving to Mint from Windows. I don’t cover dual-boot but that’s mostly just installing to a different drive. I cover testing it first on USB, then installing and configuring, then we will get into software development on it. Maybe some of it will be helpful to you: youtube.com/playlist?list=…

Outlook + Copilot + Edge = ? Microsoft Copilot and Outlook teamed up to create what might be the worst Edge feature yet — a chaotic mashup nobody asked for and everyone immediately dunked on. The good news: there’s still time for Microsoft to pull the plug. (1/2)

@bdkjones My issue isn’t with which app is best. My issue is with the idea that $50/year for a tool you use daily is “expensive” or “pricy”. That doesn’t set us up for a healthy app ecosystem when the equivalent of one cup of coffee per month is too much.

@IAmTimCorey We just value different things. I see 1Password as a bloated, non-native app. If you find it indispensable, that’s wonderful for AgileBits. But I bet there’s a whole lot of people locked into their pricy app who would be just as well served by Apple’s built-in option.
