The 1Password you know and trust hasn’t changed. Your data is protected by our strict privacy rules; no one can see the passwords and secrets in your vault - not us, not AI, not anyone but you. 1Password is not giving AI access to your passwords. Your passwords aren’t exposed, shared, or monitored. The consumer and business editions of our password manager have not changed. Unified Access is a new product built to help companies safely use AI. Your 1Password vault stays yours, exactly as it always has been.

Today we’re introducing 1Password® Unified Access. As AI agents start operating inside real production environments, organizations need visibility into how credentials and access are actually used. Unified Access helps security teams discover, secure, and audit access across humans, machines, and AI agents. 🔗 More here: bit.ly/4dq2pjO

@Adriana_Lacy Hi Adriana! Thanks for your question. You can use most authenticators that support TOTPs such as Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or Okta Verify. Let us know if we can help with any specifics.

Today, we introduced Unified Access, and it takes our Enterprise Password Manager to the next level. We've secured 1.3 billion credentials for 180,000+ businesses on one foundational principle: zero-knowledge encryption. It means that no one, not 1Password, not an attacker, and not an AI, can read what's in your vault. Only you hold the keys. That architecture doesn't change with Unified Access. What changes is the surface it governs. AI agents, pipelines, and automations now outnumber the humans they work alongside. Unified Access extends the same zero-knowledge trust model to cover them, brokering access to credentials at the moment they're needed, through deterministic policy-driven flows, without raw vault contents ever entering an AI context window. Your data stays yours. We're just making sure every identity that touches it is governed the same way we've always governed human ones. Same foundation. Bigger surface area. You can read more about our zero-knowledge architecture here: 1password.com/features/zero-…

Great question, and no, you're not overthinking it. Unified Access doesn't give agents visibility into your passwords. It provides encrypted credentials and secrets to agents in such a way that the agents will never be able to see them decrypted or in plaintext. Everything in your 1Password vault is protected by our zero-knowledge architecture. That means no one, not us, not an AI, can read what's inside. That doesn't change with Unified Access. To prevent exposing credentials and secrets, Unified Access gives agents scoped, policy-governed access at the moment they need it, and nothing more. Your vault stays yours.

Just so I understand what is going on, this would be giving the agents access to passwords? Is that not a security concern..? Like every integration thingy becomes an attack vendor, no? Am I overthinking this?

Detection happens in real time, but response hasn’t always kept pace. Today, we’re launching the public preview of Users API for Partners, enabling security teams to automatically suspend or restore user access when risk is identified. Working with @CrowdStrike, as well as @getBlinkOps, @elastic, @SumoLogic, @tines_hq, and @torq_io, organizations can connect 1Password Enterprise Password Manager to existing security operations to: 👉 Automate identity response workflows 👉 Strengthen governance 👉 Maintain audit readiness The Users API for Partners shifts 1Password from visibility into response, helping teams act faster and reduce exposure during active security events. AI isn’t just assisting developers anymore. It’s writing code. Handling secrets. And, operating at a pace most security teams can’t fully see or control. It’s a mistake to assume that securing sign-ins also secures credentials. Modern work doesn’t just run on workforce logins. It runs on shared accounts, API keys, tokens, service accounts, and secrets that live outside the identity provider, embedded in the tools and workflows teams use every day. Our latest blog breaks down why credentials don’t stop at sign-in, and neither should your security strategy. 🔗 Dive in here: bit.ly/4sOBWkz

Hey there! Sorry for the confusion this screen caused. You won’t lose access to your data. If you decide not to continue with your 1Password membership, the account simply moves into a frozen state at the end of your billing period. You can still sign in, view your items, and export or copy your data. support.1password.com/frozen-account/ Your account also stays fully active until the end of your current billing period, even if you click “Cancel membership” today. We’ve also paused the rollout of that version of the screen while we update the wording so it’s clearer and doesn’t cause this kind of concern.

@1Password This blocks me from using the app. My membership is valid until 02/2027. I do not want to decide right now, if I want to keep it after the price hike. It is unclear if I lose access to my data if I hit „cancel“. That feels like holding my data hostage. Any advice?

Hey there! Sorry you’re running into trouble with this. From just the description it’s a little tough to say exactly what might be causing that behavior, especially without being able to take a look at your setup. If you send us an email at support@1password.com, our team can dig into things with you and help figure out what might be going on.

Yes, cancelling the subscription in the Play Store would cancel the Google Play subscription tied to your account. If you resubscribed directly on the web, that would be managed through your 1Password account instead. If you’d like us to double-check everything and make sure you’re set up the way you expect, feel free to send us an email at support+social@1password.com and our team can take a look

AI agents log in, make decisions, and trigger workflows, often faster than security teams can govern. In this @VentureBeat article sponsored by 1Password, Nancy Wang, CTO @1Password, explains why agentic AI forces a deeper rethink of enterprise identity and why governance, delegation, and continuous constraints matter more than ever. If agents are in your environment, this matters. 🔗 Read more: bit.ly/40qWgfM #AIsecurity #AgenticAI #IdentitySecurity #CyberSecurity #1Password

🤖 As AI agents shift from prediction to action, developers face a new tradeoff: how much access is enough and how much is too much. 1Password Environments make it possible for agents to: 🔹 Fetch secrets at runtime 🔹 Use scoped, read-only access 🔹 Act without embedding credentials into prompts or files AI scale won’t just be about models. It’ll be about securely giving agents the right level of access to secrets and credentials bit.ly/3MQx5Qo
