@vintagemapstore Funny that from Boston to like Daytona the coast is not as populated as you think bc of hurricanes, and then the bottom half of florida negates all of that logic

@CaribbeanRythms This is gatekeeping. I suppose all my years of watching mma, basketball, football and baseball across professional leagues and collegiate has been time wasted because I'm not allowed to have an opinion on them for not playing the sport

UFC fans are a weird breed of people. How can you as a “spectator” sit safely on the sidelines and allow yourself the liberty of ridiculing fighters who would fold you like a lawn chair. This is fascinating to me. There’s something about the human psyche that’s being revealed here that someone with better prose could articulate. So much confidence, so little risk. Little men casting big shadows. And they show this to the world proudly. It’s even more pronounced in fighting sports for some reason, appeals to a very primal instinct in man. Makes these spectators indulge in the feeling of combat while remaining completely removed from its reality. Living vicariously through your favorite gladiator.

@JadeAtrophis Is it not the best Star Wars Disney has put out? Mando 1&2 is really the only other contender, but even then S3 kinda blew it.

You guys have a serious problem where you think Andor is way better than it actually is lmao Like cool your jets Mr "one of the most remarkable TV series ever made about anything"
Marc Burrows@20thcenturymarc

TIL that the worst bits of Star Wars fandom have decided they hate Andor, one of the most remarkable TV series ever made about anything, because it didn’t spend its TV-level budget on CG locations that would have looked dated in five years anyway.

@Purpura57912934 I want to like Manuel but I really see the true fall of the Romans beginning at his reign. Before his reign and the aftermath of his death, recovery was very much possible.

Manzikert became Manzikert only at Myriokephalon, and Myriokephalon became Myriokephalon only when the Emperor died soon afterward, before his second attempt. If you know the answer to this riddle without looking anything up, you know your medieval Roman history in general and the biography of the last Roman Emperor who truly deserves the title Great in particular. Congratulations, you have read well.

@alexxozydu I wish he gave 10 more years to the empire before dying, and then also maybe we wouldn't have had the supremely ambitious but generally incompetent(?) Manuel

@lefineder The former territories of the Greek kingdoms of Egypt and the Seleucids are interesting in that they never seemed to be significant sources of troops yet the areas supported empires that lasted centuries. I also remember being dumbfounded that Egypt provided zero emperors of Rome

@mikusingularity I've heard precisely 2 arguments from left leaning folks for why they're against colonizing mars. 1 being that we should commit those resources & funds to making Earth better first, and second is the extremely nihilistic belief that we should allow Humanity to die out
