@mikusingularity Yeah I'm kinda on Dev's side on this one. AKA the guy who wants to expand Mars' population from 5000 to 1 million...

"Space colonization will involve soul-crushing labor" (if there is no automation) "Automation is bad because it will take away jobs" (if there are no social safety nets)

@mikusingularity You basically make me buy the game, craving for similar experience like KSP. Cannot wait to sink hours to this game

@LukeLoPresto I understand opposing automation if it means losing your home. But ideally, automation should be a relief from harsh labor.

@clocker_spaniel Hundreds of orbital extractors at Venus to get carbon dioxide, and a few thousand CO2 electrolysis facilities on Mars to split it into carbon and oxygen

The Earth receives 0.00000005% of the energy that the Sun emits. The total energy currently used by humanity is a smaller fraction. So even if there is a Dyson swarm that harnesses most of the Sun’s energy, there’s still room for regular sunlight to be sent to Earth.

There's ZERO punk in this. This is solar cottage-posting. Solar punk is a corporation caging the sun and the rebels trying to destroy the dyson sphere thats killing earth. This is retarded.

@AnimeSerbia There was this techno-STEM-optimism in liberal culture at the time that he was attached to and he played a pretty big part in killing it off. Looking back the Science Is Awesome culture was never sustainable under Trump

[Solar Expanse] Fusion ships haul carbon dioxide from Venus to be split into carbon and oxygen on Mars (while a solar mirror complements the one at Mercury in warming Mars up).

@MichalJedr23610 Only one you can go to for now, and you can’t do anything there yet (it’s still Early Access), but you can discover multiple star systems.

[Solar Expanse] The interstellar colony ship was built and launched by 2206, almost two centuries before the achievement deadline.

The destination is TRAPPIST-1, which is 40 light-years away, but the mission planner lets you go there in only a few years, which would require FTL travel. It would make more sense if that was the point at which it leaves the Solar System.

The “Science is Awesome” culture that got polarized against Musk went towards “humans don’t belong in space, only robots” and “fix Earth first” rhetoric.

[Solar Expanse] I noticed that the mass driver payload that launches from Mercury is called "Ares IX." Coincidentally, that was the name of my Lego spaceship (over 100 studs long) that I built by 2009. brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/galler…
