It just keeps getting worse for Keir Starmer. We already know he rejected the warnings about Mandelson. We know he lied to the House about speaking to Mandelson. And now it turns out he rejected the ethics chief's offer to vet Mandelson TWICE! The man is not fit for office.

@Telegraph This makes the cost of everything more expensive, needn’t have been so if we just extracted North Sea oil and refined our own petroleum products.

Excellent thread on how Labours corruption and fraud are out of control in the UK...

A man who sat on the boards of FOUR NHS trusts was secretly being paid to advise Palantir at the same time. His own trust told him to stay out of Palantir decisions. He ignored them. Tonight Wes Streeting is on BBC Question Time. 🧵 1/ Palantir has its hands on your NHS data. Here's what's happened — and what Wes Streeting isn't being asked about. 2/ The contract was sold to the public as £330m. Health Service Journal has now revealed the true cost of the Federated Data Platform will exceed £1 BILLION over seven years. Source: HSJ exclusive, November 2025. 3/ Matthew Swindells was joint chair of FOUR NHS trusts. At the same time, he was a paid Palantir adviser — via Peter Mandelson's lobbying firm Global Counsel. His own trust board ruled he must be excluded from all Palantir decisions. 4/ In May 2024 he emailed senior NHS executives anyway — pushing GP patient data onto the Palantir platform. He is now stepping down. Source: Financial Times, March 2026. 5/ Meanwhile, Health Service Journal reports almost 1 in 3 NHS trusts using the Palantir platform were not meeting minimum data security standards. Your medical records. Not meeting minimum security standards. Source: HSJ, March 2026. 6/ The British Medical Association wrote to the BMJ in February 2026 urging doctors to stop non-clinical use of the Palantir platform. Why? Because Palantir's technology is being used by ICE in the US to track and deport immigrants — including using health data. 7/ Ministry of Defence engineers — on record — have described Palantir as a national security threat to the UK. The same company holds your health records. Source: The Nerve, 2026. 8/ Peter Mandelson's lobbying firm Global Counsel represented Palantir from 2018. Mandelson personally arranged Keir Starmer's unrecorded visit to Palantir's Washington offices in February 2025. Global Counsel went into administration on 5 March 2026. 9/ Wes Streeting is Health Secretary. He has presided over every one of these failures. Tonight he'll be on BBC Question Time. Someone should ask him: who is accountable?

If this doesn’t make you furious, nothing will. Imagine what could have been done with that money. Anyone who has ever driven down the A303 knew that all that was needed was a cut, and they spent ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE MILLION POUNDS of YOUR money doing eff all!
Moving Home with Charlie@moving_charlie

This is deeply symbolic of the British Bureaucracy sickness we are suffering from. £179m spent, for literally nothing. World class waste.

@DavidMcGregorBN Good stuff. Now please tell me what has Labour done on building safety? People in my block put their kids to bed at night knowing there is flammable cladding on the building. Labour were vocal in opposition, but are now bankrolling developers to meet newbuild targets instead.

Proof that your councils & TFL are wasting your money & putting residents in more danger. Haven't they learnt from those countries , where the bikes like here already , take up too much community space &make our streets look like a bike dump .

Powerful commentary here on this government's inaction on leasehold reform, after talking big in opposition. Now dragging its heels even on helping leaseholders who can free *themselves* via enfranchisement. While the flats market crashes. When can we expect change @mtpennycook?
Free Leaseholders@FreeLeasehlders

LEASEHOLD IS KILLING THE FLATS MARKET AND LABOUR PROTECTS THE EXPLOITERS 🥀 Leasehold is a scam. But this @UKLabour government has caved to Big Money interests who want to keep it going. They’ve published a draft Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill that’s been watered down. The manifesto and King’s Speech promised the remaining @Law_Commission recommendations on enfranchisement and Right to Manage. Yet none of it appears in the draft legislation published in January. Service charges can quickly become a second or third mortgage, and are often arbitrarily imposed and increased at rates that far outstrip inflation. People’s salaries are not increasing in line with service charges. Why would any sane individual put their life savings into an asset controlled by someone else – someone whose interests are completely opposed to their own – and whose extractive behaviour could easily devalue the property, making it unmortgageable and impossible to sell? It’s no wonder Barclays has found that first-time buyers are skipping flats altogether and instead procuring their ‘forever home’: a freehold house with no extractive outside freeholder and more predictable, controllable running costs. A recent analysis by Hamptons found that leasehold flats are disproportionately losing value compared to freehold houses. For example, in the capital, 60% of property sales were flats last year, but these represented 90% of homes sold at a loss. We have a crisis in the flats market and no serious government response. Even after winning a High Court judicial review fought by the freeholder lobby in October, the government won’t commence long-awaited policies in the 2024 Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act. That includes abolishing marriage value and setting enfranchisement rates high so leaseholders can more cheaply extend a lease or buy the freehold. Labour was founded to take on rentier interests. Yet with the second biggest majority in the party’s history, it acts powerless. Putting exploiters before the exploited. Local elections aren’t far off. Leaseholders will remember at the ballot box. telegraph.co.uk/money/property…
