Federal budget cuts have slashed NASA's 2026 budget by 24%. This does not affect most of you, but for my students it does. For the past few years my Aerospace II class has been participating in NASA HUNCH (High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware.

@InstructorKayou Hope you do man! It’s making sense that a private company like Space X these days seems to be evolving faster than NASA. At least that’s what it looks to the outside world.

@lordeco Same! But unfortunately it is next year’s students that will be affected the most. They may not have the real world experiences of a NASA partnership. Hopefully I will be able to find a good alternative between now and August.

@Hysterax85 I doubt it. Next on my list is to start exploring other space agencies (private and international) to see if they have education programs for high school students.

Several of my past students are now pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering and internship programs through NASA. NASA takes up 0.4% of the overall Federal Budget. Anyone care to explain why it needs to be slashed 24%! Beyond frustrated today... nasahunch.com

Over 3,000 of these student projects, through the HUNCH competition, have been manufactured by NASA and flown to the ISS. These students shared their ideas and impressed NASA Engineers. More importantly, those Engineers lit a spark in those students.

Just because I’m not posting as much doesn’t mean I’ve stepped away from the things I believe in. The noise may fade but conviction doesn’t.
