Here is an inconvenient truth: Over the past 3 months, with few exceptions, the only Iranians who have actively and tangibly been opposing the islamic regime are monarchists, or people who have a positive opinion towards the Shah. The rest have been contrarians. Opposing every solution and never suggesting anything. Their entire mindset has been to never do anything because "what if anyone gets hurt ever". Instead, they lean back, with a smug smile on their face, giggling at "Pahlavists" and "warmongers" who actually fight for a real end to this misery. They'll deliberately ignore the fact that millions of people inside Iran are also of the exact same opinion as myself and others like me. If you ask them to propose their own alternative, the contrarians will simply say "Not this", and "Change must come from the inside", well aware that Iranians tried every peaceful strategy and were massacred for it. Every tactic has been tried. It hasn't worked. They are moral cowards. While we focus on Iran and our countrymen, they focus on us. They feign the moral high ground because they are weak, feckless and refusing to take any action whatsoever. Conveniently, this is exactly what the regime prefers - for the diaspora to be stuck in useless debates of reformists VS hardliners and somehow voting our way out within a fraudulent system designed by Shia ISIS. These people will never actually think of a plan. They will instead obsess with those of us who do work, who do plan. Thankfully they are a shrinking minority.

Agreed. The United States has already designated the IRGC as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. If the regime’s coercive core is the IRGC, then this is not a conventional state in the usual sense. That raises a simple question: are we negotiating with a normal government, or with a system whose center of power has already been designated?

I hope speculation and rumors about yet another extension of the ceasefire to reach a deal with Iran are off base. To me, President Trump’s position is clear. I fear the Iranians will play the same old game they always play, dragging things out by doing things like making menial concessions. I believe the bottom line for President Trump is: - No enrichment - American control of the approximately 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium - The opening of the Strait of Hormuz without interference from Iran - Iran must abandon its long-range ballistic missile program and any effort to develop a nuclear weapon - And Iran must cease support for all terrorists proxies in the region This would allow Iran to exist as a nation but not as the largest state sponsor of terrorism. If there is no deal, it is time to finish the job.
