@Iuventini The main target of the criticism here isn’t even the team, it’s the single player. Not doubting that countries have had slow starts and gone on to win, but the blame isn’t going round.

To be clear, I don't think they'll win the WC. But the reactions to Portugal's draw with Congo has been wild. We've seen teams start slow and progress to the finals: France in 06, Spain in 2010, Argentina in 2022. Portugal even won Euro 2016 after an unimpressive start. Calma.

@deejayfaremi I hear you, and we can empathise with how unfortunate things turned out. But the ref has applied the rules CORRECTLY here, which is all that matters, intended or not.

@Iuventini The tackle is the conversation here, not the outcome. A punch to the face endangers you more than a tap on the wrist. The fact that you might survive the punch with no effects, but dislocate your wrist from the tap doesn’t make the later worse than the former.

Why have they given the Qatar player a red card for this? It’s not even a booking.
